Hi! I'm Bobby Holder, artistic director of The Actor's Project NYC, a unique theatre company that assists it's actors land representation and get work through industry showcases and plays.  I'm also a writer and playwright.   I wrote a play inspired by a scene called MOTHER from my book OUT OF THE BLUE.  The play is called:

Manhattan Fable-The Actress Who Cried Wolf!

Manhattan Fable-The Actress Who Cried Wolf! is not only the twisted dark comedy of an actress who is haunted and begins to believe her own lies, but is also a heartbreaking tale of a young couple, Andrew and Carla, who are passionately fighting and loving while living in a cluttered, small apartment in midtown Manhattan.

The play begins with four characters addressing the audience, preparing them for the frantic story that is about to unfold.  There is conflict, arguments, and dry wit, as each character tries to explain when all the madness began:

"I'm Andrew, and this all began the day Carla thought she was pregnant."

"I'm Acantha, and I am part of this story."

"I'm Carla, and this all happened the day I read Andrew's journal."

"And I'm Anna.  This all began the day I died."

The Actor's Project NYC first produced Manhattan Fable in 2009 to wonderful feedback from audiences, talent agents and managers.  However funding did not allow us to extend the play to be viewed by a larger audience.  Increasing costs in producing a play have made it difficult for us to keep the original play division alive in our company.

We need your help to pay for publicity, casting, theatre rental, rehearsal space, stipends, and other expenses.  TAPNYC Theatre Company will cover all costs not raised through this campaign.

Help us today and you'll be a supporter, producer and/or a sponsor of a New York play!

What kind of wolf are you?

*Note:  Any additional funds collected will go toward extending the play or toward a future run of the play.

*Manhattan Fable-The Actress Who Cried Wolf! is part of the campaign to help keep plays alive at TAPNYC!

See the scene that inspired the play.

How is the scene different than the play?  In the scene Anna has three daughters while in the play Anna has one son, Andrew, who is a playwright.  In this scene Anna is haunting her daughters.  In the play Anna haunts her son's girlfriend Carla, who is a struggling actress on the verge of insanity.  The play is more of a love story gone wrong which focuses on Carla and Andrew, while the scene focuses on Anna.

The first performance ever of the scene MOTHER!  In this version the scene is a little more dramatic and darker.
