Micro Mob a unique Twitter event
Over the last month we've come together to do something very special. We created a Mob of people expressing their support to everybody coping with cancer. The Mob is an A3 drawing comprising over 1,400 tiny individual, unique, toon characters holding up the Twitter name of each Mobster. Stephen Fry, Ricky Gervais, Jonathan Ross, plus over 30 other well known people are in there too.
The Mob was a spur of the moment thing that ran away with itself because hundreds of wonderful people made it happen. We aimed to raise awareness and raise cash. We've done the awareness now it's time to make a real difference.
Here is our story: http://davekirkwoodstudio.wordpress.com/2013/07/30/micro-flash-mob/
We hit our £7,000 target in less than 24 hours. The drawing has been shot by an archival photographer. His work is amazing, you can see every tiny pencil stroke. The artwork goes to the printer on Monday and I expect prints back sometime next week.
I should be starting to send prints out next weekend.
When we sell ALL the prints we could raise over £25,000 for our 3 charities, that's over £7,000 each. So that's our real target.
The Impact
Every penny of profit will be shared between 3hundredand65's three charities: Teenage Cancer Trust, Cyclists Fighting Cancer and When you Wish Upon a Star
During the making of the mob I lost someone very special to me and the world lost Jon Brookes. I dedicate Micro Mob to Cath and Jon, you can dedicate your print to anyone you choose - the mob is for everybody coping with cancer.
Other Ways You Can Help
Mobsters: Amazing prize from @derwentpencils worth * £196 * for the best coloured in Mob print. Responding to your comments on here that some of you will be colouring in your print I asked Derwent Pencils to offer an amazing prize to the best one. They said yes and are offering this incredible box of pencils to the winner. These are artists' pencils (the real deal) used by professionals.
Derwent Pencils will judge the prize. More details to follow but instead of ruining your print we will include in EVERY one of the 2,000 prints a beautifully designed leaflet on The Story of The Mob in that will be a pull-out section of the mob for you to colour in and send to Derwent. Good luck - more later. Like they always say though, you've got to be in it to win it.
