Greetings~ My name is Sara. I am Doula and Childbirth Educator. I would love to be studying Midwifery. I love my job and want to come full circle on my training. I am a busy Mom of two boys and an active member of WISE Birth Doula Collective. My passion is birth arts and I am ready to expand my knowledge, I am drawn to it. I read a lot of midwifery texts and birthy books. It feels right to start with the next step. Help make it official.
It's a special honor to witness a Mama's journey through birth and a blessing to meet this new life.
Phase 1: To become a Midwifery Assistant. I would like to be working with local Midwives and standing by Mama's side. This will help me get hands on experience and valuable knowledge. Northwest Birth Assistants
Phase 2: Midwifery School. I intend on studying Midwifery through National College Of Midwifery- NCM
My goal is $8500 which covers both Phase 1 and 2, plus books, Prerequisite classes, equipment, Certification fee's and Registration fee's.
The Estimated cost for Phase1 and Phase2 is $10,000.
I am hoping to be able to cover the rest. Once I am a birth assistant, I can put that money towards covering the difference in expenses, while my Childbirth Education/Doula fee's will go towards keeping a roof over my children's head.
There is no Finical Aid for Midwifery school and there are isn't a payment plan option or scholarship opportunities. THIS MUST BE PAID IN FULL AT THE TIME OF REGISTRATION.
Really, I am grateful for the experience of reaching for this goal. If it l is not reached, the contributions will still be used towards something birth and education related. Maybe it goes towards the text book I'll need for my future goal or I get one more prerequisite class. It's a step forward. Thank you for your time and consideration.

Prerequisites for the class
Neonatal Resuscitation Program™ (NRP) = $175
Provider Level CPR- $75-$125 (depending on when, determines where)
7 hour HIV Course- $60
Books and Equipment- $250 +/- Stethoscope/Pinard/Blood Pressure Cuff etc
Phase 2: Midwifery School- My education can start as soon as I have the funds to pay for the 42 month course IN FULL.
Application Fee: $100 (Non-Refundable, paid upon application)
Administrative Fee: $4,900 (One-time fee, paid at enrollment)
Accreditation Fees: Estimated cost $450 per year for each year of enrollment beyond 3 years.
Additional expenses:
Tuition: Students and their preceptor(s) make whatever financial agreements they wish, provided evidence of an agreement is filed with NCM. The student pays tuition (if any) directly to the preceptor. NCM suggests $500 per month.
Textbooks: Estimated Cost: $2000 (used) $2600 (new).
TOTALING around $10,000 for Phase 1 and Phase 2. (depending on if I can find my books for cheaper/used/borrow.

I want to give Birthing Mothers more options. I will practice Evidence Based Care and honor the person whom I support, honor her wishes, honor her soul.
Midwifery is a skill set that can be taken anywhere and make an impact.
To often Mothers feel fear and 'out of control' over their birth. I want to help give them that power back.
The world needs more Midwives.
The Doula Collective I am a member of put on weekly pregnancy/baby related workshops and events. I want to continue to bring more knowledge to the community. Supporting these Mama's throughout pregnancy is such an honor and a passion. Midwifery training is the last step on my birth arts journey.
