What
is it about?
Everyone who has ever sung in a choir, knows
that singing can make happy. Our movie With A STRONG VOICE (germ.: MIT
STARKER STIMME) is looking for happiness in a much deeper way:
We have been filming the girls' choir of the "Sing-Akademie zu
Berlin" - known as the world's first mixed choir - for two years.
Alongside the music we accompany the girls while they are growing up. What
does friendship mean? What kind of experiences do they have
with bullying? Do girls today fall in love differently than 300
years ago? What are their ambitions and longings? And how would
they change the world, if they had the chance to? Does music help while looking
for your place on earth?
At the moment we are in the middle of exciting shooting
and need your help in order to finish this musical
documentary. In fact it will be the first documentary about a girls' choir
ever!
With your involvement we can accomplish this
audiovisual mosaic about the growing up as a girl nowadays in a big city. We
want to narrate a multifaceted and colorful social portrait from
the perspective of young women WITH STRONG VOICES.

Our motivation
and approach
The time of growing up from a girl to
a woman is a particularly interesting one. There are millions of new thoughts,
feelings, experiences and possibilities and at the same time that is also the
time of problems, doubts and uncertainty.
For us as artists, as we are always re-defining
and inventing ourselves and searching for ways to question and re-create our
world - the adolescence is a time that really affects us. As women, who balance
between work and family we ask ourselves what kind of self-conception
young girls have nowadays. With what kind of role-models do
they see themselves confronted with and how do they deal with them?
![]()
The centre of the film is of course the choir: the joy
to sing quite ambitious choir literature together, the dream of a career as
a singer, but also not at least the choir as shelter from to the
pressure of good marks, isolation and social apathy in school or at home. The
choir is a safe circle of friends where the young women can discover and try
out themselves in many different ways.

Goals and Audience
With this project you support first movie about a
girls' choir that was ever set. That could not just affect music-lovers and
people, who have experienced singing a choir themselves but also all people
that are interested in the lives and perspectives of young women nowadays.
Next to people that work in the education area or are
concerned about gender- and women questions, all people are
addressed, that have children themselves or want to be reminded of their
own adolescence. WITH A STRONG
VOICE takes people along on the exciting journey to special choir and gives a
sensitive picture of a generation of young women living in Berlin.

Our plans
Thanks to a grant of cultural education (Berliner
Projektfonds Kulturelle Bildung) we
could get to know the girls and the choir last year and create a special
concert program with music videos with them.
Now we want to complete the documentary shootings
with the choir in order to celebrate the film premiere in October 2016 when the girls' choir will have
its 10th anniversary. We have been calculating sharply and our goal for the
crowd funding campaign is about 15.000€.
In order to bring the film to completion we still need:
- approx.
40 days shooting with a team of DOP, sound assistant and director
|
6.000 Euro
|
- Technique
fees, rent, audio recording and postproduction
|
5.000 Euro
|
- fees,
charges, and travel costs
|
2.000 Euro
|
- PR,
advertisement, print and organization
|
2.000 Euro

What you get
In order to make the support exciting and attractive
for you, we have thought of a lot of different perks. These are on the one hand
things that have to do with the choir e.g. a song of the choir as ringtone,
a singing lesson or a performance of the
girls' choir in your company, party or event. On the other hand we have other
great offers that just indirectly have something to do with the choir, but with
the team and supporters. For instance we have prints and paintings (look at the
bottom of this site), DVDs of Stefanie Trambow's earlier films, cultural
events in the romantic Dahmetal or an organ guiding tour in
the Berlin Cathedral.
Every supporter will get a thank you video by the film
makers and will be enclosed in the credits of the film. Supporting our film
with 30€ or
more you get a link to the movie, that we hope to finish in autumn 2016. Starting
with 500€ you
will be named in the credits as a special partner.

Documentaries touch me because they are as diverse and
unpredictable as life itself. But sometimes they are even more intense than
life.
After the Bachelor's in Cultural Sciences in Frankfurt
(Oder) and Wroclaw I assisted at an independent documentary project with the
subject migration in Berlin and since that documentary filmmaking didn’t
release me.
In my Master's I specialized on Visual Anthropology
and became an independent filmmaker working together with foundations and
associations as well as with artists and young people.
My former movies were shown on festivals, were
released as DVDs and the last movie that I worked on was shown in the movie
theaters, too (view: www.stefanietrambow.de)
This project concerns me as woman and mother, it
challenges me as artist and the music affects me directly as person.
Cornelia Schlemmer, Co-director, dramaturg
As an educated painter I am often looking for a
connection with other arts like music, statuary and also film. As a member of
the GEDOK Brandenburg for example, together with other artists I could bring
into being big interdisciplinary projects, that were shown in different
exhibitions.
My strengths are developing subjects and
projects, that I then implement together with others.
Since 20 years singing in a choir is a big hobby
of mine. Now I work as newcomer-choir-leader in the girls-choir for the
Sing-Akademie zu Berlin with girls between 7 and 9 years. It moves me to see
what great influence a choir community has on the adolescents. Since I have
three girls between 14 and 24 myself, I’m very interested inhow girls and young
women find their ways, what kind of dreams they have and how they implement
them today. Are there similarities or differences to my own development?
