We didn't reach our target which is a shame, but I would like to thank everyone who supported and backed us!
We will be contacting everyone regarding their Perks and Beta access nearer to release time (approx. July 2013).
Please 'like' our facebook page (if you haven't already done so) to keep up to date with development and release times.
Many thanks again...
![About this project About the project]()
"One desolate landscape... one solitary fisherman... and an island hiding memories around every turn" - Montague's Mount.
Montague's Mount is a first person psychological rollercoaster ride through isolation, desolation and one man's tortured mind; all set against the bleakness of an isolated Irish island.
It was born out of a love of both video games and cinema. Long before I ever sat down to create my first video game (approximately 20 years ago), I could been seen waving a camera at just about anything. Over the years, certain movies have captured my imagination, namely; "One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest"; Kubrick's "The Shinning"; "The Blair Witch Project"; and more recently, Scorsese's "Shutter Island". All these films have a common thread of isolation, desolation and touch upon some shocking issues.
Current trends within the gaming world have left the market awash with Horror'esque games; most of which revolve around 'Shock or Buckets of Blood' tactics to get their message across. My goal with Montague's Mount is to redefine the Horror genre, giving the gamer a combination of clever puzzles, a thought-provoking story that touches upon real issues (such as mental health), and stays true to my love of cinematic visuals.
As the game is set on an island off Ireland, we are going to embrace 'all things Irish' as much as we can, including the Irish language (Gaeilge). We believe Montague's Mount will be the first ever mainstream game to use the Irish language (don't worry, English subtitles/options will be available, as will other languages).

![What has been achieved to date what has been achieved]()
“It felt like this was never going to end. The world wasn't going to stop crashing down until there was nothing left of me but dust.” - Keary Taylor
The story is pretty much water tight. We know where I am going with the lead character and the environment. Creating a new back-story, which would hold up well against the location and the realities of mental illness wasn't easy and it has been a long, and at times soul searching, experience.
The island locations for the initial episode have been mapped out, with the initial prologue section being fully realised with the game engine; including all the puzzle elements being mapped out.
A Steam Greenlight submission has been made for Episode 1 and this is going extremely favourably.
Episode 1 is approximately 75% complete and I am hopeful, if this indiegogo campaign is successful, that a Christmas 2012 release is more than possible.
![Why Should you invest in me Why Should You Invest In ME]()
"For too long we have swept the problems of mental illness under the carpet... and hoped that they would go away" - Richard J. Codey
In a word, "Dedication". I have a real passion for Montague's Mount. For the last 12 months I have developed and worked single handedly on what you see, spending thousands of hours modelling, coding, designing and writing. Apart from a few models and the music from the video, everything has been made with my hands - and I have enjoyed every second of it (much to my wife's dismay - she says I am constantly in the office).
Having worked within the IT and games industry for 20 years I am no stranger to game development and personally have all the skillsets required to deliver this game. Up until now, having the ability and the passion to complete this, combined with a 'day job' to pay the bills, has been fantastic.
Unfortunately, life has changed. The economic decline which has hit Ireland has left me being made redundant and now my goals for Montague's Mount far exceed my resources.
That is why I am asking for your help to help me complete Montague's Mount. To give me the necessary resources to finish it and to finish it to the highest level possible.

![How Can You Help How Can You Help]()
First and foremost by pledging to this campaign. Your contributions are what will keep this project afloat. Without your help this project cannot go much further and I fear Montague's Mount will founder... which would be a tragedy. Something full of so much passion, and time spent upon it, cannot be allowed to go this way.
"This is all so familiar; I have been this way before. It was Peter and Aine who brought me this way. If only this unrelenting rain would give in, I could say for sure. Day after day, this perpetual dampness, crawling all over me, saturating everything on this island" - Montague's Mount
Contributions Level 1 - $15,000
If we can get to a contributions level of $15,000 that would be amazing. This amount would give me the necessary resource to complete Montague's Mount. It would allow for a simultaneous release on PC, Mac and Linux devices. As you can see from what has been accomplished so far, Montague's Mount will end up being a fantastic final game and with this level of support, allow me to fulfill this.
Contributions Level 2 - $20,000
If, with your help, we can get to Level 2 that would be truly fantastic. The additional contributions would allow me to try far more advanced things with Montague’s Mount. It would allow for some outsourcing of asset creation, which in turn would allow me additional time to polish the product to a much higher level. New shaders could be written to replace the current water system and additional eye candy could be added. When I started this project, one of my goals was to make the most realistic and 'living' environment of any game before made. With this level of support, this goal could be realised.
Contributions Level 3 - $25,000
If, we could get to Level 3, well that would be amazing! This amount would allow for all the I's to be dotted and the T's to be crossed.
It would allow us to cement a mobile device release and look at other platforms. It allow for mobile devices to be purchased to test Montague’s Mount for deployment onto these platforms. With all the detail currently in the Montague’s Mount environment, getting it to run on a mobile device will not be easy. Quite a bit of reworking will be needed to get it running smoothly. That said, one of my goals is to see this running on a tablet. The iPad, for instance, would make a perfect partner for Montague’s Mount.
It will allow us to start researching new input devices, such as the Oculus Rift VR headset and new platforms such as OUYA.
Contributions Level 4 - $30,000+
This is the ideal solution, which would let me add all the bells and whistles to the project, and make Montague’s Mount the game is really should be. It would allow for additional help. More time to be spent polishing everything to the highest level possible. It will allow for additional time allocated for marketing and promotion.
It will also give us the time and resources to implement the Oculus Rift VR headset into Montague's Mount. The Oculus Rift Virtual Reality headset is something that I must get implemented into Montague’s Mount. It is cutting edge technology and would add and additional level of realism and immersion that would be mind blowing.
It would make Montague's Mount become one of the first supporters of the Oculus Rift and be a huge selling factor for the project.
![Thank You Thank You]()
Lastly, I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for taking the time to read this campaign.
Like I said, I know money is tight; we all have bills to pay on a daily basis. I understand fully if contributing financially to this campaign is out of the question.
Could I ask that, whether you can afford to contribute or not, you tell as many people as you can about this project. If you are a Twitter or Facebook user, please spend a minute and post a few words about it and ask others to do the same.
Your help is vital and much appreciated.
