Mother Falcon has a lot of members - a rotating group of anywhere between 15 to 20 musicians - and we also have a lot of instruments (three cellos, six violins, horns a plenty, a bassoon, saxophones, and even glockenspiel - just to name a few). We also have a lot of musical ideas and touring plans and dreams of teaching young musicians and scoring films and writing better and better songs!
What we don't have, at this point, is a record label. We don't have someone to pay for the recording, mixing, mastering and duplication of our music. We don't have an army - or even a platoon - of publicists, booking agents, promoters, or marketing experts alerting the world every time we release a record and sending us out on the road, setting up radio performances, contacting bloggers, and sending out promotional materials.
But what we do have is Y-O-U.
So we're humbly asking if you'll help us be our own label, so that we can do all the things necessary to record an album and ensure that it reaches a larger audience in the world outside of Austin upon its release. With your help, we'll fund the mixing, mastering, manufacturing and release of You Knew, which we are aiming to put out on May 7. Then, we'll take it to New York in June and Los Angeles in August and play as many darn shows as we can! Your pledges will also enable to do some regional touring in between, so help us take our show on the road so you can see us perform live!

Furthermore, you're also contributing to our 2nd Annual Music Laboratory, a summer camp we conduct with the Scottish Rite Theater for middle and high school orchestra students in the Austin area in July. Our Music Lab offers students the opportunity to use their technicality to expand their musicality with the goal of helping students in finding their own sound grounded in their classical training while also incorporating and exploring their influences without regard for genre or imposed constraints. We aspire to spur creativity and collaboration with our younger peers, and it's our goal to make it an outlet of growth for them in a time when local funding is readily decreasing for such community endeavors in the arts. The more our Indiegogo project raises, the greater the opportunity for eager disadvantaged students to participate this summer!

We feel fortunate to have this opportunity to release our new album You Knew with you, the people that have supported us from the very beginning and have inspired us to now take a giant leap of faith and continue on into the future. We're very proud of the music we're making, and we've been working so hard to make this album a reality. Obviously it's not cheap to fund a project of this magnitude - going on tour with 15+ members is a bit financially intimidating, to say the least - but everything in our bones is telling us that now is the time to make the leap. Taking our music outside of Austin is something we've always dreamed of, and you are all helping that dream come to fruition!
