We all know Detroit has faced tough times. But Detroit's creative scene is bursting with vibrancy. Two Detoit nonprofits, COMPÁS and the Carr Center, are channeling this creative energy, giving kids music and dance lessons, as well as fun, creative spaces to hang out and explore.

With your support, they can bring even more music to Motown.

We're holding a Motor City Dance Party in Brooklyn, NY at Cameo Gallery on Dec. 9. in order to both benefit these nonprofits and get our groove on.

But not everyone who wants to support Motown can make it. Therefore, this donation page ensures no has to miss out on making Detroit stronger and even more musical.

Why are we doing this? One of us (Amy Braunschweiger) grew up an hour outside of Detroit, and would drive to Detroit to go dancing – dancing and music being two things that make her feel free. By funding these nonprofits, we hope to support Detroiters in finding a sense of freedom through music and dance – and self-expression and creativity – while also giving kids a place to go after school.

Thank you so much for your support -- even if it's just spreading the word about this page and about our Motor City Dance Party. Even if you're not from Detroit, you're now a member of our greater community.

Thanks,

The Motor City Dance Party
