Names was conceived during a high school love affair, beginning as far back as 2007, coming into fruition as early as 2011. Names is intercourse. We’ve been undergoing sisyphean ekstasis for quite some time. American expats in Montreal. It’s 2013 and we are releasing music, finally.
With the help of our lovely friends, we're going to raise money to rerecord a fully produced album and this is a promise that we want to keep - to finish what we started.
We've gone through a myriad of trials & tribulations to even get this far. We played in a tiny 7x7 room, survived floods, sacrificed time & effort, even had creative differences amongst that we worked out in the end. I hope you will support our next attempt when the time comes. Thanks for taking a minute.
This campaign hopes to cover the costs of tracking, mixing, and mastering.
(a preview of what's to come)
"Forget structured easy listening, Names speaks in musical aphorisms. When inspiration abounds, consciouseness is paramount. Hear one thought, move to the next. And don't try to keep time. Waste it with the boys instead."
- Emile Janda
"William, this is excellent...just a real tribute to both your collective and individual creativities and virtuosities. It fascinates me how each of you manage to contribute a sort of free-form and frenetic feel while working within a complex structure. I honestly still don't see how you keep track of it all . . . . I also don't see how this music could be scribed using typical scoring methodology. Regardless, it's interesting, emotive art, unique (at least to me) and not just the next commercial contrivance. I really enjoyed this."
- William's Dad
