Who are we? What do we do?

Wisdom of the Elders, Inc. records and preserves oral history, cultural arts, language concepts, and traditional ecological knowledge of exemplary American Indian cultural leaders, historians, and environmentalists in collaboration with arts and cultural organizations, and science and education institutions. With all of our projects, Wisdom seeks to correct misconceptions, end prejudice, bring health and wellness to Native people, and demonstrate how Indian culture has and continues to enrich our worlds.

This Project...

Wisdom of the Elders Radio, Series Four: Indigenous Response to Climate Change, eight one-hour Native American public radio programs for a national audience, is an oral history, cultural arts and climate science series featuring the voices of exemplary Native elders, storytellers, song carriers and scientists who provide Traditional Ecological Knowledge and unique perspective on environment and climate issues. 

Our production team traveled to Alaska in August and September to record Native elders for Wisdom’s fourth radio series, this time on climate and cultural issues. Wisdom Radio has aired on Native American, public and community radio stations nationwide since 2002. Wisdom Radio Series Four: Indigenous Response to Climate Change, is funded by National Endowment for the Arts but we need to raise 1:1 matching funds. So we are asking for your help. 

This is where you come in...

Though woefully under-paid for their skills and talents, our 12-member production team is committed to this work. Your contribution to our Indiegogo will help produce these 8 one-hour radio programs and provide our producers with a decent fee.

The first two programs will be produced by June 2014 with the remaining six one-hour programs to be produced over the next two years.
