The National Democratic Institute is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization working to support and strengthen democratic institutions worldwide through citizen participation, openness and accountability in government. 

NDI and its Chairman Madeleine K. Albright believe that equitable participation of women in politics and government is essential to building and sustaining democracy. The Institute is committed to working with women as partners and participants in NDI programs and activities.

NDI's Madeleine K. Albright Women's Project is dedicated to helping women break down the barriers that prevent them from engaging in politics, and at the same time, empowering women with knowledge and skills so they can participate, compete and lead.

Since 1985, NDI has organized innovative and targeted programs across the globe to increase the number, effectiveness and popular support of women civic leaders, voters, candidates, political party representatives and elected leaders in more than 70 countries.

A charitable gift to the National Democratic Institute to support the Madeleine K. Albright Project will directly serve and impact the work that is done globally to engage, serve and elevate women in the political process. The most urgent need, currently, is to build a fund for unrestricted purposes to support all of NDI's work and programs to serve and work with women. The MKA Project will allow NDI to take its work with women to a whole new level.
