Negative Pleasure Publications (negativepleasure.storenvy.com, jeanscomics.tumblr.com) is a Brooklyn-based comics and media publisher. Currently, we publish the yearly anthology Jeans, the first two issues of which have featured worked by Benjamin Marra, Alabaster Pizzo, Alex Degen, Zach Hazard Vaupen, Pete Toms, Karissa Sakumoto, Claire Donner, Harris Smith, Stephanie Davidson, Amy Searles, Laurie Pina, Olivia Fox, Leah Wishnia, Laura Perez-Harris, Anthony Meloro, Madeleine Bliss, Jessica Hansen, Garret Young, Wiley Wiggins and others.
In 2014, we are looking to expand our publishing from 1 or 2 comics a year to 6, as well as a second printing of Jeans #2. These will include:
-Felony Comics- A full color anthology of crime stories by Alex Degen,
Lale Westvind, Pete Toms and Benjamin Urkowitz, with a cover by
Benjamin Marra and pinups by Karissa Sakumoto and others (out in
April)
-Revulsion Comics- A b&w anthology of horror stories by Amy Searles,
Josh Freydkis, Garrett Young, Anthony Meloro and Laurie Pina, with
pinups by G.W. Duncanson and others (out in April)
-Night Burgers (working title)- A comic designed to be viewed under
blacklight, by Amy Searles and others. Comes with stereoscopic
glasses for psychedelic 3-D effect (out this fall).
-Monster Mash- A photo/art zine by me and Glitterguts, featuring my
monster self-portraits and her texture photography (out this fall).
-JEANS 3- Creators TBD (out in November)
-A comic focusing on the work of one specific artist. This is in the
works but I don't want to jinx it by saying who. (out in late
2014/early 2015).
Contributions will go towards printing costs. We are looking to improve the quality of our books and the quantity we are able to produce.

Each of the smaller comics we produce this year will cost about 600 dollars for a run of 500 books, Jeans #3 will cost about a thousand dollars. The more money we are able to raise, the more copies we will be able to print!
All other money raised will go towards paying the artists and towards future publishing projects.

Negative Pleasure publications is dedicated to presenting narrative works for independent and underground comics artists with an emphasis on traditional comics genres- crime, horror, science-fiction, funny animals, romance and more. That said, we are always on the lookout for new voices and new talents and promote diversity and equality among artists from different backgrounds and levels of experience. In Jeans 1 and 2 there are creators who have done work for companies like Marvel and Image next to first time cartoonists still in college, art comics up and comers next to people who have never made a comic before, professionalism and primitivism, side by side and hand in hand. Preferably hand in hand. Our goal is not to create the next big thing but to introduce you to the artist who's going to make the next big thing. And, of course, we just want to make comics, lots and lots of good comics that are both thoughtful and fun to read. Negative Pleasure Publications is a place to see things you just aren't going to see anywhere else.
