UPDATE - December 22. 2013

Our campaign has ended!

Unfortunately we only got one supporter for our project, so the future development of Neurotron is uncertain. We were not able to raise the first 2000 € milestone, which was smallest of the three.

It seems that there is not a whole lot of demand for cyberpunk board games out there. Thanks for tuning in!

'Neurotron' was born from a mad spark of inspiration during the summer of 2009. A long time passed and finally actions were taken to finally bring the project into fruition. So why go live with this now? Because we see that the possibilies of crowd funding and Indiegogo are just the right thing for this kind of production.

As a leader of the campaign I have a long history with game and film projects. I started my first video game project in 1999 when I was 11 years old and in the years that followed I created and lead numerous game projects. In 2008 I decided to focus on films, animation and live action fiction.
Our second-in-command leader, Vesa-Pekka Koivisto, also has a long background in boardgames and video games. He is a longtime illustrator and a role-playing enthusiast.
Third man in the project is Tuukka Kuusisto, who is also a RPG hobbyist, both on screen and on paper. He will be our assistant writer, designer and translator.

Dark world of Neurotron was inspired by a number of different games and fictional worlds. HeroQuest by Milton Bradley & Games Workshop has always inspired us. This fictional setting however is far from the fortresses, wizards and hideous monsters of high fantasy. Cyberpunk has a special place in my heart as a genre of fiction.
Backstory of the game paints a bleak vision of the near future. Drawing it's inspiration from many tropes of the genre, it's got everything you would expect; an evil megacorporation, data espionage, bionics, genetic experiments and pollution ridden world infested with electronics and computers. The look and the feel we want to achieve is this rundown world, were nothing really works; from technology to human rights. All in all, the world of Neurotron is a pretty grim place to live in.

Neurotron will be a HeroQuest style action role-playing board game, with customizable characters. You will be able to purchase items, weapons, updates and equipment. You will take the role from one of the five player characters: the Clone, the Agent, the Cyborg, the Psychic or the Hacker. One of the players will always be the Corporate Player, controlling the enemies and setting up the board as a game master. This makes a total of 2-6 players.
       The game will feature 2D and 3D board objects. The player and foe characters will be created as 3D miniatures out of plastic. Game actions are controlled with preset values (for example Clone can move 6 squares each turn) and the fighting is done with custom D6 battle dice. Upgrades and equipment will enhance the preset values.
       Players will go through a set campaign of missions, after which they can design custom missions of their own. The game is designed to be quite customizable. The mission objectives vary from retrieving precious data to eliminating a certain key member of the THE FAMILY.
       Below you can see the description of your character card. Each player will choose one card, which will have different settings for attack, moving, health and dexterity.

Neurotron ought to be finished in about six months. Although, if we will not be able to gather enough funds, the project may take up to a year to finish. Our goal is to make an enjoyable board game, which will be relatively easy to learn.
       Cyberpunk-themed game has been my dream for such a long time. The illustrations, board objects, miniatures and graphic design will each take their own time to make. Your money will secure this project and make it become reality. As we go along, we will keep the Indiegogo community updated and informed. Bits of information about the progress will be posted on a weekly and monthly basis.
      The game is currently in testing phase. We have already designed all the enemies, weapons, upgrades, random cards, equipment and 12 missions included in the standard game. Creating an impressive prototype is our main goal now. This includes creating bulk of the illustrations and fining the rules.
      We now ask for your help and support for this project! Only you, the people, can make the Neurotron come true! Here are our milestones with the funding:

2000 € raised

We will get to make the game with minimum budget. Instead of real 3d plastic figures, we have to rely on paper cut characters and game board objects. The game will be finished in 6-12 months from now and we will try to sell it to a larger manufacturer for retail.

4000 € raised

We can make the game with 3d plastic characters and board objects, which will be much more neat. We will still have to rely on a bigger manufacturer to actually copy and sell the game. The game will be finished in approximately 6 months.

8000 € raised

We will be totally independent with our funds if we raise 8000 EUR or more. The game will feature colourful instructions manual, 3d figures and we can manufacture it by our own. The game will be finished in 6 months or less.
