About the project
My name is Brian Yetzer. I’m a 3D Artist, Animator and Educator. In 2010, Nikola Lonchar from the Tesla Science Foundation in Philadelphia introduced me to the world of Nikola Tesla and his amazing inventions. Since that time, as a member of the Board of Education, I have been producing educational and promotional content for various Nikola Tesla organizations. I’m passionate about using interactive and digital content to educate and inspire people.
I
need your help to create an Augmented Reality mobile app and an
interactive poster series to be included in the traveling
exhibit "Tesla:
Past. Present. Future.".
This
new exhibit pays tribute to Serbian-American physicist, electrical
engineer, and inventor Nikola Tesla—arguably the most innovative
scientist and inventor of the 20th
Century. "Tesla:
Past. Present. Future."
shows why Tesla’s ideas are more significant now than ever.

"Tesla:
Past"
- will feature the world’s first mobile augmented reality
experience to honor Nikola Tesla. Viewers will be amazed by the free
app that enables virtual content appearing through the lens of a
smartphone or a tablet, against posters that contain embedded
interactive 3D animation and video playback superimposed over a
real-world environment.
There
are currently three posters in development that contain embedded
interactive 3D animation and video: Who
was Nikola Tesla?,
What
was the Wardenclyffe Tower?
and How
a Tesla Coil Works.
Working
closely with wireless electricity and Tesla coil expert, Gary
Peterson, a scale 3D coil model is animated to provide a step-by-step
demonstration of how the device works.
Dr.
Ljubo Vujovic of the Tesla Memorial Society of New York contributed
the video footage from his “Nikola Tesla: The Genius Who Lit the
World” documentary for both Who
was Nikola Tesla? and
What
was the Wardenclyffe
Tower?
posters.

2. The project's three objectives
- Engage smart phone and tablet users in the latest in mobile technology, interactive techniques.
If
you know nothing about Tesla, I hope you’ll want to learn about
him; if you are familiar with his accomplishments, I hope you’ll
want to learn more. The augmented reality mobile app and interactive
poster series is a 21st
century “edutainment” experience that has the power to attract
and hold an audience's attention.

5. About Nikola Tesla
Tesla’s
good friend Mark Twain said, “Truth is stranger than fiction.”
Indeed, Nikola Tesla was living proof. Born in 1856, his many
inventions include fluorescent lighting, remote control, radio, the
induction motor, the Tesla coil and other devices that made the
electronic age possible.
An
employee and later a rival of Thomas Edison, Tesla developed the
alternating current (AC) electrical supply system that would make
electronic devices safer and more effective. He was the first
scientist to make X-rays practical – and the first to warn about
their dangers. While Edison had a genius for industry and promotion,
Tesla was passionate about using technology to solve humanity’s
problems.
By
now you may be wondering, “If this Tesla guy was so important, why
isn’t his name on office buildings, street signs and public
schools?”
Great
question.
Considered
by many influential people of the time as anti-establishment, Tesla
was more interested in distributing free electric power and ending
war than in accumulating personal wealth. Sadly, he died
impoverished. Although his inventions made the modern age possible,
his personal legacy has been largely lost in the shuffle of history.
The traveling exhibit, "Tesla: Past, Present, Future" will
showcase Tesla’s visionary work and highlight the dramatic
differences between Tesla and Edison.

6. What you will help achieve
Your
contribution will fund development of an app and an interactive
poster series for the Nikola Tesla traveling exhibition. Besides
helping to bring new and important information to the world, you will
also help to promote sustainable, renewable energy.
The
Indiegogo Community’s support of alternative energy sources energy
saving products will stimulate further investment into green
technology. It doesn’t take a Tesla or an Einstein to realize that
we cannot continue to rely on fossil fuels to produce the vast
majority of our energy. Fukushima made it obvious that the sun
is the safest nuclear reactor we can rely on.
Your
contributions will be used for the following:
-Apple iOS app development
-Production
of interactive posters
-Production
of interactive t-shirts
-Shipping
and shipping supplies
-Taxes
-Indiegogo
fees
-Buffer
amount - set aside for dropped pledges, lost packages, refund
requests
My
passion for Tesla’s elegance and effectiveness of design has guided
many hours of detailed work to ensure the most accurate design. I'm
creating all the art, design, and animation for the posters and app.
With over a decade of teaching 3D computer graphics, 3D animation,
and video game development as well as professional freelance and
consulting services, I am confident that this project will exhibit
the finest representation of a technology ready for mass adoption.
