** Please note that this campaign is now closed. We raised over $22k and are now able to make our film! Thank you so much to everyone who has helped make this happen. You can keep in touch with us through our website where we'll be posting updates. We're also very active on Twitter and Facebook, so come and hang out with us there too. **
Hello. We’re Synchronicity Films, a small independent film company in Scotland, and we’re making a film called Not Another Happy Ending - a smart, funny, sexy, intelligent indie romantic comedy that just happens to be set here in Glasgow. It’s about a writer who’s blocked on her second novel, and her publisher, who decides that the only way to get her writing again is to make her as miserable as she was when she wrote her first book. Trouble is, the more he makes her unhappy, the more he realises that he’s in love with her.
We’ve got some great stars for the lead roles, including flawless beauty Karen Gillan (the Assistant in Doctor Who). We’ve got a great writer, David Solomons (Five Children and It), and a brilliant director, John McKay, who recently wrote and directed We’ll Take Manhattan. All we need now is you!
We’ve been working hard at securing the cast, crew and finance for the film, and we’re nearly there... but we need $50,000 more in order to complete the film. If film-lovers club together to help us meet that target, we will manage to make something wonderful that you will be a very important part of. Hey, you might even be in it!
Become part of the film
$50,000 is our target, and this is the minimum we need in order to complete the film. This is needed to pay the cast and crew, secure locations, and complete the edit. Pretty essential stuff. Any extra that we manage to raise will go into showing Karen Gillan in even more stunning urban Glasgow locations, looking even more chic and fabulous.
If you decide to contribute, you will be showered with gratitude in the form of thank yous, signed scripts, tweets, and credits. Some contributors could even be rewarded by a cameo in the film, a signed, limited edition print, or a personal video message from Karen and the cast. Our contributors will be essential and recognised members of team Not Another Happy Ending, and you could be joining us on set, introducing the film at its premiere, or receiving an award with us at the Baftas.
We live in Scotland, we were born here, and we want to make a movie that shows Scotland as we see it. Maybe we would have attracted millions of pounds of funding if we were making another Braveheart or Trainspotting. But we’re not. We’re making a movie that is cool, confident and perfect enough to have been produced by any of the big US indie studios, and that could be set in any modern US or European city.
There are lots of ways to get involved, so please check out our list of incentives and rewards to see what you could receive in return for your help. We also take requests, so please tweet us @NAHappyEnding with any suggestions of rewards you’d like to receive.
To help us meet our target, we need as many people as possible to hear about Not Another Happy Ending. So, whatever your involvement, please share our campaign on Facebook and Twitter, and keep following us to hear how we’re getting on.
Whatever you’re able to offer, please, yet involved, show your support, and let’s make a movie!
