“BIG SHOWS” is an "All-Access" photo documentary retrospective that celebrates New York Fashion Week in the 90's. The exhibit is meant to highlight American Fashion Week History and its strong continuity in the 21st century.

INTRODUCTION

When I was living in New York in the 90s, there was nothing more thrilling than going to the fashion shows. For me, the shows were not just about seeing the latest collections, they were also about the fun and excitement happening behind the scenes at every major show. Rockers and their supermodel girlfriends would be partying backstage while Hollywood stars would be triggering paparazzi mayhem out in the front rows and outside the tents. It was truly something else. And while today's shows are equally entertaining and even more celebrity-packed, the 90's were very important formative years for American Fashion. From the 90's Marc Jacobs emerged to become a true international fashion icon!

Back in the days, Todd Oldham, Anna Sui and Marc Jacobs were the hottest up-incoming new American designers. Along with Isaac Mizrahi, they were the "Must-See-Shows" of New York Fashion Week. 

ABOUT THE EXHIBIT

This photo retrospective will be shown at the Lincoln Center during the upcoming New York Fall/Winter 2013-2014 MERCEDES-BENZ FASHION WEEK shows on February 7-14, 2013.

It will consist of 30, 24" x 36" images printed on aluminum.
