Short Summary
Hello everyone! My name is Tobias Greenhalgh. I am 24 years old, and currently based out of New York City. I have always had a strong passion for music and sports. For the past 6 years, I have dedicated myself to studying and performing classical music. This past spring, I graduated with a Masters's in Vocal performance from the Juilliard School.
While at Juilliard, myself and two of my musical friends (John Brancy and Armand Ranjbaran) formed "Operation Superpower", a Superhero themed musical school assembly that helps students discover their very own "superpowers", which we equate to a student's talent or passion. Our show maximizes self empowerment and motivation, while giving students a classical music experience that they will never forget. We also cover the topic of bullying, in which we help show students that everyone is uniquely special, and nobody deserves to be made fun of or bullied. We try to be do-gooders, and step outside the box to help students open their minds and realize their potential.
About a month ago, I decided that since school was finally over, and I had more time to devote to my own interests, that I would pursue two goals that I have wanted to do for a very long time:
1) Do charity work
2) Run a marathon
Then I realized that I could connect a few dots and accomplish both of these goals in one fell swoop: I would run a marathon for charity. Yes! But then I thought, "couldn't I connect a few more dots?" Since I dress up as a superhero and sing opera for kids as my day job, I figured that I possess the gusto to run a marathon dressed as a superhero too. So the point of my campaign is to raise funds and run the Hamptons Marathon on September 28 for the New York City based "Friends of Karen" charitable organization under the auspice of "Operation Superpower".
Friends of Karen's mission:
Friends of Karen’s mission is to provide emotional, financial and advocacy support for children with a life-threatening illness and their families, in order to help keep them stable, functioning and able to cope.
Since our founding in 1978, we have served approximately 5,000 children and their families. When siblings are counted we have touched the lives of over 12,400 children.
Friends of Karen offers its services regardless of race, religion, gender, handicap or national origin in compliance with all applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations.
My goal:
My goal is to raise $1,000 dollars for "Friends of Karen". If you want to be a superhero and support this fantastic organization's cause, please donate! Every penny will be donated to help support the families of critically ill children in the New York City area. Check out their website to read more about their services, and to hear of their many successes!
