Othello

Go Play Producing presents, a thrilling production of Othello – the classic story of manipulation, power and jealousy seen through a new lense: all the males are played by women and all the females are played by men. This retelling aims to challenge our expectations of gender roles and inform our perception of relationships and societal norms. The classical text allows us to live in a heightened emotional reality while breaking through assumptions and examining how we connect, fight and love in a new perspective.

Director Tanya Rintoul connects the actors to their characters motivations physically and viscerally in order to find the heart of the story and dives deep into the classical text to answer: what happens in a world where women hold the power?

The Impact

This Fall, we decided to embark on a journey. Since then, we have collected an amazing group of talented actors and artists that is bringing the world to life. We have felt overwhelmed with the amount of insight, dedication and support we have received so far. However, we need a little more help to keep us going.

Our Campaign helps support the work we have been doing for the past month. From rental fees to production costs, the campaign's impact will go towards covering those costs. The more money we raise, more costs covered.
