Our Pitch
It's 2013, and Palomino is ready to record our first album. We're currently in pre-production for the recording of roughly 11 new songs, all of which are the product of our greatest efforts. We feel that these songs combined will form the cohesive album experience that we have all come to cherish throughout the history of rock music. We are asking for your help to fund the studio time and production, to bring this project to life.
Building on experience we've gained in music production and engineering over the past several years, we'll be handling many of the technical duties of the album on our own. This freedom places us in a unique position to focus a majority of the funding we receive on obtaining the highest quality basic recordings and final masters with studio professionals. It also means that contributions to our project will be able to stretch farther than if we were to rely on paid professionals throughout every step of the lengthy production process.
All contributions to this project will help pay for the talented engineers we will work with during tracking and mastering, the space and equipment we will need to rent for these tasks, and replicated copies of our mastered album for distribution/marketing purposes.
What We Need To Make This Album (And What You Get For Contributing)
We're asking for $5000 to fund this album. Funds will be allocated based on the following estimates:
$2,200 - Three days of basic tracking with in-house recording engineer
$900- Mastering of 11 songs with replicable CD master
$700 - Marketing/Promotional content
$1,000 - Production of 500 Mastered CD's in Eco-Wallet case
$200 - Indiegogo fundraiser fee (4% of raised funds, assuming our goal is reached)
As a measure of gratitude for your contribution, we are providing perks at several contribution levels. Refer to the "Perks" panel on the right side of the campaign window for more details. Note: Any higher perk you reach will also make you eligible for all the perks at a lower contribution level.
These figures represent the funds required for Palomino to make the best album possible while retaining an indie level budget and handling a majority of the labor ourselves. Because this is a flexible funding campaign, we will still receive a portion of your funding in the event that we do not reach our goal. If this is the case, we will honor the commitment to the financing we have received, and continue to work tirelessly in accordance with our available resources. In short, even the smallest contribution will be of immense value to us and will help make a beautiful record.
The Impact
As devotees to music creation, the members of Palomino have complementary skill sets in the audio world that will allow us to produce this record ourselves and obtain highly professional results. Over several years, Elijah Amitin has sharpened his ear for critical listening in a real-time recording environment, and has the unique ability to approach music from the big picture perspective required of a producer. Mike Sweeney's experience with editing, mixing and post production was featured on Palomino's debut EP, and has continued to evolve in the time since to yield superior results. Bassist Pat Deeney is an accomplished film composer and his skills in arrangement have lent Palomino a depth of focus that could not otherwise have been realized as a duo.
We believe that an artist's ability to retain creative control over the vision of the work they produce will result in the most pure, direct, and impactful output. We are looking forward to taking on this challenge and firmly believe that it is the path most suited for the record we are trying to produce.
We also believe that the proliferation of file sharing in the digital recording era has led to many underutilized collaborative opportunities. With the formal release of our completed album, we will make available the uncompressed, raw, unmixed tracks for one song off the album. These files will be available at no cost to the public, and can be used non-commercially for remixes or sampling. In the hopes of gaining exposure within the professional audio community, one of our perks will be the provision of raw audio for a song of the contributor's choice.
We will be sharing progress updates and photos/videos throughout the production process for the purpose of both documenting our journey, and to prove our commitment to those who have been generous enough to contribute to our campaign.
Other Ways You Can Help
We understand that not everybody can contribute to this campaign. If you've read this far in our pitch, that means we've gotten your attention for at least a few moments. If you like our campaign and would like to support us without necessarily making a financial contribution, please take a moment and share this with those who might be interested. Be it via Facebook, Twitter, hypercaffeinated rambling, or nonviolent protest - Any exposure is good exposure.
Above everything else, we would like to thank you for your support, and for helping us realize our creative vision. We believe in this project strongly and deeply, and we are eternally grateful for any time you have taken out of your day to read our campaign and any contribution you may have made - financial or otherwise.
