Who we are:

Boston Actors Theater has been producing since 2004 and is comprised of a group of Bostonian artists who come together to produce mostly new works by local playwrights. Our mission is to support the community; meaning producing local, hiring local designers, directors, and actors; as well as raising funds for a local charity during the run of our productions. We often take on challenging works for the audience and our artists. This production is one of those special works that needs the communities help to put up. Due to the technical demands and intense themes of this production BAT needs your help! With your donations we can reach this wonderful script’s potential!

What is Paper City Phoenix about?

Brenna’s soul mate is missing, but finding him is hard when she can’t stop mentally channeling Google searches. Gale tries to help her, but she’s got her own problems and her printer’s out of toner. Both women, an anti-tech cult, the FBI, and the Internet itself will be involved before it’s over, and the city will never be the same. PAPER CITY PHOENIX is an explosive comedy that looks at how we connect when we’re always connected, and what’s left when the universe hits the delete key.

“This is a big, crazy comedy,” says playwright McGough, “with big production demands and a comic-book aesthetic. But at its core is a character-driven story about the need for connection. I’m extremely lucky to work with such talented artists, bringing it all to life.”

What We Need & What You Get

We are hoping to raise $2000 to put towards our $3000 budget for this production. This will cover stipends for all the artists working on this project, as well as the costumes, sound, sets, and a complicated paint design elements. We will not only be creating a world of paper, but one inside of technology and a burnt out post-apocalyptic city, not to mention a very electrifying opening!

You can see some of the costume sketches in the gallery section! All the costume sketches are by our costumer Cara Chiaramonte, see more of her work at http://carachiaramonte.com

Every amount helps no matter how big or small to help us achieve our goal of creating a high quality production for everyone to experience!  In exchange we have some great things to offer you, from our gratitude, to tickets, to signed scripts, pieces written by Walt just for you, and coaching from Director Melanie! Everyone will be thanked on facebook no matter how large or small the donation. Even if it's $1! Check out everything and please give to this amazing project!

Other Ways You Can Help

If you can’t help at this time please we understand. Still want to help? Spread the word to those who may be able to help out. Every little bit helps when approaching a work as big as this and every piece of help is truly appreciated!
