Success! The money raised through this campaign will go a long way in funding our magazine project. If this is the first time you're visiting this page and you'd like to pledge support to Desi Writers' Lounge and Papercuts magazine, please write to us at editor.papercuts@desiwriterslounge.net. We'd love to hear from you.

Thanks to the generosity of its supporters, this campaign reached its goal with four days to spare!
However, this does NOT mean that all you kind people stop supporting us! There are still a few hours remaining before the deadline and every extra cent helps us to fund and subsidise this project for which we regularly spend out of our own pockets. So please do keep spreading the word and keep contributing, no matter how small the amount!
Reaching the goal is one kind of success; surpassing the goal is another level of success altogether. Help us show others how it's done! Help us demonstrate to the world that South Asia cares about supporting its writers and artists.
And now, back to our regular programming.

Since its inception, Desi Writers' Lounge has stayed true to its mission of nurturing and promoting the work of new writers from the South Asian region. Our team of magazine editors, forum moderators and activity coordinators work tirelessly and have never taken a single cent for their efforts.
What Your Contribution Will Do
So here's the deal: if you help us reach this goal, Desi Writers' Lounge will be able to bring out two print issues (Vols. 12 and 13) of Papercuts magazine. This is a full-colour magazine with over a hundred pages of poetry, fiction, essays, interviews, reviews, photography and artwork, featuring new and published writers.
Your funding will take us through a year of publication and distribution, and allow us to give the magazine an international launch at the 2013 Goa Arts & Literary Festival! It will give us the headstart we need to make the print publication a sustainable venture. We're not interested in being a flash in the pan. We know we can make this work if we get some breathing room right in the beginning.
Why This Is Important
Yes, this is not a charity project. DWL and Papercuts do not save lives. But they do help to make lives.
We've poured our resources and an essential part of ourselves into this project. Why? Because DWL works. Desi Writers' Lounge has been helping new and young writers to improve their craft for seven years now. DWL members have gone on to publish novels, run their own literary journals, carry out writing workshops and win writing awards.
It is important to support this effort -- even at a time when the publishing industry is moving to online from print -- because it provides an amazing incentive for new and contemporary voices, both from South Asia and beyond, that might otherwise struggle to ever get published. It's a spectacular feeling to see your name appear in print against something you've written, something you've created. And it opens doors for these writers in the publishing world.
It's taken
the DWL team seven years to get here. Seven years of believing, giving, and
achieving so much more than we could ever have imagined. Were there doubts? Yes. Moments of hesitation? Certainly. Mistakes? Of course. And yet, here we are.
Taking our magazine to print is the best
validation of the last seven years that we could have asked for. But
this we can't do alone.
That's where you come in. We're asking you to own
this project with us. See it as the shared cultural resource it was
always meant to be. Are you with us?
Now let's take this baby to press!
