Q. How do I display Patriot Badge?

A. Patriot Badge can be affixed to your license tag or rear of your automobile.

Q. Do Police Officers appreciate the Patriot Badge Pledge?

A. Yes, many have expressed their appreciation for the support and respect.

Q. Do some Police officers have resentment for you presenting your rights?

A. Most Police are Patriots and take their Oath to protect your rights seriously. However there may be some that do not and this is exactly why you present your written statement; you should exercise your rights.

Q. Why do I refuse a search if I have nothing to hide?

A. Great question, but it has nothing to do with having nothing to hide. Being searched without cause is a violation of one of our most basic human rights. It is your choice, but if you have nothing to hide then why would allow a search?

Q. Will police get mad if I refuse a search and retaliate?

A. Most Police will not resent your refusal and respect your decision. However there may be some bad Police that could be offended, but this again is why we present our written refusal, if they get mad, too bad.

Q. What do I do if I refuse a search and the Officer proceeds and searches me?

A. If you refuse their request to search and they continue, you allow. At no time do you resist or lose your temper. This is extremely important - if at any time you resist or use threatening language you will lose your moral high ground and could be arrested. If the officer proceeds and there is no probable cause, you can take legal action. If the officer is found guilty of violating your rights they could be subject to both civil and criminal penalties.

Q. Could Patriot Badge be misused to hide criminal activity?

A. Maybe, but if there is sufficient probable cause they could be searched anyway.

Q. Could and officer assume by displaying Patriot Badge you may be intending to hide something?

A. Maybe, but again if there is probable cause then you may be subject to search.

Q. Does displaying my support actually make me a target?

A.  Another great question. Each officer uses their own discretion as to who is a potential threat. So does Patriot badge make you a target? No because you are not only displaying your support for law enforcement, but also that you are empowered with the tools to exercise your rights.

Q. Will Patriot Badge help me avoid a traffic citation?

A. There are many ways to avoid a traffic citation. First is to obey all traffic rules, but occasionally we may violate those rules. We know by stats that about 44% of traffic stops end up with citations. Police have great discretion in issuing citations and one thing is for sure, If you act rudely, use fowl language and do not show respect, you’re going to get a ticket. However by displaying your support, taking The Pledge, showing respect, being courteous and honest, your chances of a little professional courtesy will be greatly increased.
