On a trip from north to south, from the most crowded spots to unknown breaks, PENINSULA is the tale of a journey to discover and describe where surfing in Italy came from and what it is like nowadays.
Peninsula can be better described as a freedom collage about surfing and surfers, about friendship and rivalries, about environmental issues, climate and a bit of history. The film has been shot entirely shot in 35mm, 16mm and super8 film. It's an homage to the Mediterranean Sea.
More than a year of work, 14.000 Km of roads, 10 ferry travels, 8.500 meters of film, around 25 surfers involved, 10 TB used, 50 hours of renders, 1Kg of wax, 2Kg of sun lotions, 3 Bolex cameras, 2 Arriflex SR Super 16mm, one Arri 435/ 35mm and few Super8s and also, more than 300 hours standing behind a camera, 11 film festivals, uncountable phonecalls, mails, few drinks and some medicines, and lots of encounters and discoveries…
Finally the shooting of Peninsula - the new surf movie from the authors of Onde Nostre - has reached the end.
Luca, Matteo and Gio are now busy editing and postproducing the new movie, which they would like to release it in summer 2014.
The process of documentary film making holds a lot of the unknown. As in life, obstacles can occur at any point in the process. At this point in the production, the impact of obstacles we may encounter would affect schedule, release date and quality of the finished product.
We need your help to sustain the costs of producing a one of a kind film experience on the history of surfing till nowadays in the boot shaped country.
