sarabrown is Photography Dancer!
I am sarabrown, New York based visual and performative artist aka Photography Dancer! I am a professional photographer, dancer and performance artist and have been living and creating my work in New York since 2007. The NY downtown performance art scene in Manhattan and Brooklyn has been my playground for many years dancing and performing, for a listing of all that please visit www.imsarabrownphotography.com/contact Other recent projects include a two year online project, I Heart Street Art with Sister SaraBrown, from 2009-2011 documenting street art through stills and video at http://sistersarabrown.tumblr.com In 2012, I joined forces with photographer Florence Montmare and created the creative duo, 2Spass. 2Spass produced, directed, and curated Dream Machine, a performative bridge that spanned circus art, performance art, and photography. This project, Photography Dancer! has brought together my favorite artistic mediums which makes me very excited, hence the exclamation point! Photography married with performative dance, choreography and spontaneous action, performers and audience participation, the celebration of the individual and the community. This is a multi-media project in which I photograph myself and others through hand held remotes that I trigger while simultaneously dancing. The performative action is instantly projected as part of the performance and the communal, primal joy of dance is mirrored to the audience and participants underlining the connection of community that dance embodies. I have solely produced and directed and in tandem choreographed three performances of Photography Dancer! since June 2012, for a preview of these performances and further exploration of the project and stop animation video, visit www.imsarabrownphotography.com/photodancer/
Photography Dancer! presents The Mom Show Part 2 is the next incarnation of this project. As Photography Dancer!, I am mounting a month long residency in Bellingham, WA from January 1st through January 31st, 2014. The residency will include a month long arc of photography, dance, street performance, and in house performance in celebration of the life and love of my mother, Kathy Brown. Kathy Brown has struggled with long term illnesses for many years and experienced the brink of death repeatedly and proclaims that its the love from her community of friends and family that brings her back to life every time. I am going back to the beginning, going back to my mother, going back to the community that i grew up in and pouring on the love for the month of January. I am exploring love, death, life, and connectivity. The bone deep connection between mother and child and when it is time for the child to take care of the mother in the best way she knows how. And the best way i know how do this is through joy, laughter, dance and coming together to celebrate Kathy Brown and the incredible group of people that surround my beautiful mother with light and love. This campaign and your support will enable me to launch an amazing performative love extravaganza for the month of January 2014. Your support will contribute to the connection with my mother in her continual healing process and throw the best month long dance party celebrating a gorgeous life. Kathy Brown gives so much, i want to return that gift with The Mom Show Part 2 in Bellingham, WA.

I thank you all for your contributions and support on this incredibly personal and powerful project, Photography Dancer! presents The Mom Show Part 2. This project will happen whether my project reaches its intended financial goal or not, it is too important and close to me to turn away from it at any point. All contributions will help make this project lift off and be an extraordinary experience for myself and my mother and the community in Bellingham. Every dollar will go towards manifesting this project and the unfolding of that is the process and point of creative output itself, the journey much more interesting then the destination. You are contributing to a project that is in celebration of all of our origin stories, how we all interconnect and where we all come from. I thank you. So Much.
This is just the beginning of the expansion of Photography Dancer! I have been successfully mounting Photography Dancer! performances for the past year here in New York and now am taking it on the road and back to my beginning with your help here with this campaign.
