Combining superior performance with intuitive usability, the Matter and Form 3D Scanner is an affordable, high resolution 3D scanner that is compact, portable, fully assembled and easy to use right out of the box. At the heart of our patented technology is an HD camera that produces accurate, detailed color scans at resolution qualities that match or top what more expensive scanners can achieve. It works with almost any 3D printer or online printing service, and it allows users to scan solid items to create a digital 3D model. It is also capable of producing intricate, high-resolution, 3D representations.

We’ve been developing the 3D scanner hardware and software from scratch since 2012 and will continue to provide free software updates to all users. What's more, the scanner is compatible with both Windows (7+) and Mac (OS 10.9+) and saves/exports the following file formats: STL, OBJ, PLY, XYZ and PTX.

Who We Are.

Drew Cox (CEO):  I've been an entrepreneur since I was 18, and making things since I could move my hands. The many jobs I have had over the years are what make me who I am. Professionally I have been a programmer, artist, art director, and graphic designer. Unprofessionally I am an inventor, hacker, and mad scientist. My career path has led me to help build huge brands like Labatt, Budweiser, Audi, Honda, Coca Cola. My hobbies and passion has brought me to respect the names of Prusa, Sherline, Arduino, and every person who has ever contributed to open source projects.

Trevor Townsend (CTO): I've had a diverse career path, including roles in software development, IT consulting, business analysis, and music. I've written software used by multinational corporations including ArcelorMittal, Home Hardware and Staples to manage employee time. I've authored reports on IT requirements for the manufacturing, retail and reinsurance industries, and co-authored a web gaming system capable of supporting millions of simultaneous users. I have also written and performed music which has been sold and reviewed around the world. I'm pleased to be part of the senior leadership team at Matter and Form, an organization with a great team of people who make great decisions and great products.

Paul Banwatt (COO and General Counsel): Paul Banwatt is a lawyer licensed to practice in New York and Ontario. Before joining Matter and Form Inc., Paul was an associate at Gilbert’s LLP in Toronto. Paul has regularly lectured on 3D printing and scanning law, including for the Intellectual Property Institute of Canada and the Licensing Executives Society. Paul is also the founder and main contributor for the 3D printing and scanning law blog Law in the Making, which is featured in the March/April 2014 issue of Landslide, the intellectual property magazine of the American Bar Association. Paul has also had a successful career as a musician. Paul’s bands (The Rural Alberta Advantage, Woodhands) received two 2012 Juno nominations, charted on the Billboard U.S. Top 200, played at the 2011 Coachella Music Festival, and have been featured in numerous publications including Spin, NME, Playboy Magazine, and The New York Times.
