The Cork Forest Conservation Alliance is the only North American nonprofit, whose sole mission is to preserve and protect the Mediterranean cork forests. We are members of the FSC, European Forestry Institute, and the United Nations ECOSOC for NGO's.
The cork forests are considered one of the most environmentally important forest regions on our planet, yet little is known about them. Many people think the trees are cut down and there is a cork shortage, neither of which is true.
The idea behind the Cork Art Cube is to give people something really beautiful to look at and because we all love our smart phones, a fun way to learn about our forest conservation efforts and their planet.
We didn't spend any money on this video, as you can tell. It was made on an iPhone! We wanted to tell our story, in a fun way and save our $$$ for the real reason we all work 60 hours a week, to save the cork forests.
It’s been five years since we started our organization and we realized that we needed to take the education/awareness process to another level. The Cork Art Cube, we believe, will be that vehicle. It will travel across the US and be set up in public places where thousands of people will pass by and have an opportunity to view it and have fun. When the QR code is scanned a gorgeous, 40 second video will pop up, not a stagnant webpage. This video will engage the viewer and let them know how they can learn more about our efforts.
Our budget is $25,000, 100% of which will go to funding this project. It will cover the cost of building the cube, creating high quality videos, transportation and the fees associated with placing the cube in 15 cities across America.
We've got some great perks:
- A set of 6 cork coasters,
- Our 100% organic cotton, Quercus suber t-shirt
- An eco-friendly cork watch from Sprout.
- Your name on the video as a Co-Producer
- Best of all, a guided trip to the cork forests and a cork manufacturing facility in Portugal. Airfare, Transportation and Hotels included.
-
If you contribute and we come to your city, we'd love to take your picture with the cube and post it on our website.
Your contribution will help advance our forest conservation efforts in a number of ways:
- Helping to educate the public about the vital environmental importance this forest region has to health of our planet.
- Building a large network of people commited to our organizations forest conservation efforts.
- Advancing our public awareness and education campaign
- Helping us to reforest the most critical areas of the cork forests
Our Cork ReHarvest, natural cork-recycling program is the largest in North America. It has helped to remove millions of used wine corks from our landfills and helped to educate the public about our efforts. With corporate partners like Whole Foods Market, Wente Vineyards, Bobby Flay, Mario Battali, and Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas we have raised the awareness of the American public regarding the impending danger facing the cork forests.
If you can't contribute, please let your friends know about our efforts, use the Indiegogo share tools and please visit our website to learn more. Thank you and we appreciate your support.
