#ReCatalyze Zeek Magazine
Zeek: Social Justice. Jewish. Catalyst. Community. Culture.
Help us start 2014 as a strong, sustainable magazine.
You know how there's always that moment when a small act can have a big impact? For Zeek, that moment is now.
Zeek is a catalyst for conversations about the Jewish
tomorrow.
We refuse to see Jewish identity or Judaism as stagnant or immutable. In one space, we bring together articles no one else is running. We personalize Jewish social justice, arts,
spirituality, and innovation, from true tales from the frontlines of social change, to living with mental illness and depression to leaving the ultra-Orthodox community, why climate change is bad for the Jews to what it means to pray with our legs -- and lips.
Zeek -- the oldest online Jewish magazine -- has won awards, and catalyzed game-changing conversations. Now, we need your help. To advance our vision, we're laying the groundwork for a strong, sustainable 2014. We'll stay scrappy and fearless. And we'll keep our content free. We need you.
It's a Match! If We Raise 10K, We'll Get 10K
- That's right! Zeek has a generous donor who'll match 10K if we raise
it by the end of the year. We're a quarter of the way to making this match! Help us raise $7,500 more.
We’ve hatched a plan. Here's how your help will #ReCatalyze Zeek.
With your matched donation, we'll:
- Launch a new series of in-depth, reported feature stories on Jews, economic justice, poverty and privilege in an increasingly divided America.
- Bring Zeek to life with better visuals and data visualization, creating the kind of graphics you'll want to share and be proud to support.
- Start 2014 on the right foot, by paying writers. (A move toward stronger, more consistent content. Not paying writers puts us in the highly uncomfortable position of asking contributors to donate quality work for free. Oy.)
- Create new columns and series that look at how different progressive spheres impact each other, like an "Arts & Activism" feature or a "Rabbi Says, Reverend Says" on issues like immigration, environmental impact, and more.
- Upgrade the Zeek site so it's a better platform for engagement -- growing our online community and making it easier for readers to take action.
- Enhance Zeek's Women’s Visibility Project. We surpassed our 2013 goal to make 50% of our content, writers and sources are women, lifting up the public profiles of smart, progressive Jewish women.
- Diversify and expand our base of writers.
Other Ways You Can Help
Help us build the Zeek community. Support us and we'll stay independent and brave. Also, grateful.
- Tell your friends why you support the #ReCatalyze Zeek and ask them to join you in supporting the #ReCatalyze Zeek Campaign. It's easy on Indiegogo.
- Make Zeek a part of your week. Agree. Disagree. Share. Engage. Build. Act.
- Keep sharing ideas. We don’t believe in one-way conversations. Our Zeek plans have been shaped by folks who've shared ideas, visions, and how they hope to make change.
Zeek isn't like any other Jewish magazine.
For many, Zeek serves as an affiliation for the unaffiliated.
For others, we're a supportive, reflective space for an inclusive, diverse Jewish community to find common ground. Explore uncommon ideas. Find new ways to connect to Judaism and sustain each other. Grapple with moving through the world in a way that's authentic and Jewish. And fun.
Thank you! Toda raba! A sheynem dank!
