The HOPE Campaign & Empty Kingdom have joined forces to bring artists from around the globe together during SXSW in Austin, TX for an ALL DAY ART EVENT titled "ReCREATE: ATX" to support one of the largest outdoor art galleries in the United States, the HOPE Outdoor Gallery (HOG).
HOPE officially launched the project in March 2011 with Shepard Fairey & Obey Giant Art with the support of property owners, Dick Clark Architecture and Castle Hill Partners. This historic three-story art project is located in the Austin- Clarskville neighborhood and was developed to provide muralists, street artists and community groups the opportunity to display large scale art driven by positive & educational messaging.

What We Need & What You Get
We need to raise at least $10,000 to restore the walls, produce the art event, and keep up the project for 2013.
The money will go towards cleaning up and restoring the walls, as well as other things listed in the video. While all involved artists are volunteering their time for free, we are at least supplying travel, lodging expenses, and art supplies where applicable.
Also, just as important as getting the walls up and ready for the public to enjoy, the wall will need help to keep going throughout the year. If we raise more money than asked, it will go towards maintaining the site and increasing the educational programs and events possible throughout the year!
The Impact
By supporting this project you will help provide a chance to bring local communities together at the largest outdoor gallery in Austin, a gallery that is focused on educational and positive art for all generations! Furthermore this event will provide a venue for artistic expression and learning for Austin youth.
Recreate: ATX seeks to bring together a diverse group of international and local artists. By bringing international artists to the event, they will be able to develop longstanding ties with and appreciation for Austin. Conversely, the local Austin community will be able to appreciate fantastic art that they may not have otherwise been exposed to.
Through this event the HOPE Outdoor Gallery will provide an opportunity to reframe the discussion of public art, allowing for both acceptance and appreciation of an often-stigmatized method of artistic expression. The event will include:
-
Clean up programs: receptacle, monthly volunteer teams, landscape assistance
- Promote art in Austin and build a strong local network of collaborators & supporters
- Children's art programming
-
Create a “fresh start” for the HOPE Outdoor Gallery 2013
-
Provide art, culture, & education for the Clarksville neighborhood
-
Make our activation one of the most talked about at SXSW
-
Bring higher traffic/awareness to our Partners
-
Post-event management for H.O.G.

ABOUT HOPE
Welcome to the HOPE (Helping Other People Everywhere) Campaign - a project of HOPE Events Inc. an eco-conscious 501(c)3 non-profit that helps artists & musicians support education around the world.
The HOPE Campaign launched in December 2006 by asking artists & musicians to get involved and help educate the world about the humanitarian crisis in Darfur, Sudan.
Since then thousands of artists and groups have joined HOPE by contributing talent, time and funding to support education and arts programming. These collaborations and contributions provide the organization with ways to continue to involve artists & musicians in local to global issues across the world and in their own backyard.

Empty Kingdom's mission is to change the world through Art. Our goal is to share only the best Art we find to every part of the world. Our mission is to connect, promote, and educate through our programs and partnerships. We believe Art can serve a higher purpose than self-expression or the monetization of someone's self-expression. We believe Art can have a direct impact on our social environment rather than an esoteric one. We believe every person deserves to have a chance to experience, appreciate, and practice Art in their lives, and we are doing our part to make that a reality.
