Whose silly idea was this anyway?
We are a group of friends who love everything from tabletop gaming and movie watching to comics and cult TV. We each have our niche loves and hates, but we proudly consider ourselves Geeks and will fight to the death to prove that Han shot first (Or at least roll a D20 for damage). One day we had THAT conversation:
"What would you do if money was no object?". The usual replies of "Travel the World", "Buy a Zombie-proof house", "Bring back Firefly" were banded around when "Start a geek café with a gaming zone, mini cinema, stage, fireman's pole and ball pit!!" got mentioned.
This was the Ultimate Idea. The Dream Geek Location. Probably not including the Firemans Pole and Ball Pit. One of those places where you pop by to eat good food with friends, stay on to play a quick tabletop game, and end up spending the evening watching a movie on a big screen. We’ll also be the place to go for Events. Comic Expo’s, Writers Conventions, Cosplay Crafting Days, Gaming Tournaments, Steampunk Gatherings, Doctor Who fan days, Lord of The Rings Trilogy Rewatch Weekends… You name it, we’ll organise it.
We’re not going for the ‘little sandwich shop on the corner’ or the ‘trendy wine bar’. We’re aiming BIG. The Ultimate Geek Events Venue. Starting a business from scratch in this day and age is not easy.We need start up capital, a large property and numerous licenses and legal bits. Without the initial cash injection - banks won't even look at us to provide more finance. So this campaign is the crux of the whole project and a lot rests on us all pulling together to make this work. Not only do we need your help to raise the initial funds, but your donations will help to cover some of the costs that our investment loan won’t quite stretch too.
We know we can make it happen. We need your support to get us to Warp 1.
