As a filmmaker, I produced/directed a no budget horror feature film for roughly $6000, 90% of which was self funded. The project won multiple awards, including best monster, best trailer, and screened in 3 countries, USA, Canada and Germany.
As a musician/composer, I have released over 15 12" singles and multiple full lengths for world known labels like Network 23, Invisible, and recently with DJungle Fever and Liquid Sky Berlin and Blim and have large cult fan base.
Project
Our project is a Sci Fi / Acid Western / Hot Rod film about the Gunfight at the O.K. Corral. This is a short film that will later become the beginning scene of a feature film that follows the revenge killing of one of the Earp brothers and the "Earp Vendetta Ride" in which the surviving Earps, Doc Holliday and several deputies hunted and killed the assassins.
A blood feud/revenge tale in the old west, but set in a dystopian not too distant future with hot rods, motorcycles and car culture.
Wyatt Earp and his family are territorial Marshals in Neuhoma Rust Belt, they have been feuding with the Clanton family and there employees for sometime, eventually leading up to a gunfight that killed 3 of Clanton's employees. Its a familiar story but with a very updated twist.
WHY -
Originally I wanted to make a documentary focusing on my family's racing history, my great grandfather and his 5 children (my grandmother , her husband, and grandmother's 4 brothers) and their offspring, and offspring's children as well. As I began researching the family story, my uncles began to pass away almost immediately, and reality was that this was a project I should have done years earlier. During the research period, I spent a large amount of time at one of my cousin's shop and one of my Uncle's shop, both located down in Hubcap Alley. They both have live/work auto shops in this amazing historic neighborhood that at one time was the epicenter of Oklahoma City auto culture. It was at this time that I learned of the city planning to use Immenient domain and "buy out" the property for a massive downtown park. I decided then that this was my last opportunity to capture the Hawley/Woodring magic along with the surrounding culture they were a part of, on film before it was too late.
The script/concept was not hard to realize since the area literally looks like a mix between modern and old west meets an end of the line "Mad Max" feel. It also helped that my family are really into old western films like Peckinpah's The Wild Bunch and his modern day western "Bring me the Head of Alfredo Garcia".
This is a dedication to my family, the men who helped raise me, as I was the oldest great grandchild and my grandmother was the oldest of Great Grandfather's children. My tribute to them and all the things that made my imagination run wild while growing up around this culture.
Legacy forever captured
Both family legacy and historic locations of Oklahoma City will be captured and preserved as both are on a looming deadline.
the Woodring and Hawley family are no longer active in racing culture and once the city takes over the Hubcap Alley region, the shops will close.
Even if they relocate, it will not be the same.
This film will capture both the family and location befor it ends, giving me not only a very fun high octane film for people to enjoy, but also an intimate portrait of my family and its legacy.
This is a short film that will be the beginning of a larger film
Our film is an eye candy driven piece, for car/motorcycle lovers and genre fans, set around true historical events that were happened in 1881 but set in 2081.
Location
The majority of this film will be shot on location in historic Automobile Alley in Oklahoma City, in the older section dubbed "Hub Cap Alley" . This area is slated for demolition within the next 3 years and our goal is to capture as much authentic car culture as possible before it becomes a large park.
The rustic old west feel and gritty last stand of car culture visuals are very much alive in the 8 block district we will be shooting. Auto shops, parts houses, specialty shops with original brick store fronts and salvage yards through out the area.
Vehicles
The cars and motorcycles are mostly supplied by family members who own shops in the area, the Woodring and Hawley family have a long history of collecting and customizing hot rods, rat rods and motorcycles which will be featured in the film along with family friends and local car/bike clubs. Showcasing some really cool vehicles and location set pieces.
In this future setting, the global economy has collapsed, the energy crisis has peaked, oil and petrol are rare, and motor culture in North America has dwindled itself down to a small area in the heartland, once the farm belt but now known as the neu rust belt.
What We Need & What You Get
We need minimum $3000 for the short film, that covers gear rental, insurance, and 3 man crew working for free.
$3000 we will have equipment rental and insurance covered for 5 days of filming in a 30 day period beginning Sept 3rd.
If we can raise $6000 , we get more vehicles, crew expenses, better wardrobe and can feed cast and crew.
$10,000 goal, we cover all bases and have small reserve for promotion and festival fees
IS IT POSSIBLE -
Sewer Chewer: is a feature film we made 4 years ago for small budget of $6000.
Sewer Chewer, nearly every scene was an fx shot and took over 3 years to produce. Rust and Bullets, and the following feature film, may be more involved film making due to the vehicles and large use of extras, but it will not involve monsters, fake bodies, or nearly as much blood. Rust and Bullets main focus is the auto culture and not creatures.
