Short Summary
My name is Frank Rishel and I'm directing the feature Saint. Saint is the kind of story that people remember for years and years. I've spent many years sculpting and shaping my skills as a writer and this one is my best story so far. I've spent 4 and half years at Universities, learning the craft of film making. I've learned how to tell a story through the camera and lens. I'm now ready to throw my hat into the ring as a diretor. I've directed 3 shorts so far and I can honestly say that shorts are not for me.
This campaign is important not just because we need money. It's about unifying us. It's about coming together as one. I want to prove to the world that film exists here in FL and that you don't need to go to Hollywood to make a movie. It starts right here.
Very few filmmakers have a chance to make a feature. Most of those stories wind up buried under bills and other paperwork while the film maker winds up working a 9-5. You'll be helping us be among the few to ever shoot a feature length movie on FILM. It will be a tremenous first step for us all and we'd love to include all of you in our journey.
What We Need & What You Get
10,000 sounds expensive right? Most people in the industry still consider it a no budget project. We feel that 10,000 will be enough to pre pro, shoot and edit this thing then get it out to festivals. Here's a breakdown of what the money is going towards:
Production Insurance: $795
We want to make sure everyone is covered just in case the worst case scenario happens.
Script Copy Right: $25
This protects the story from being stolen.
Rolls of film: $3000
We can get rolls of film for about $100 each. We plan on shooting super 16mm film.
Post Transfers/Processing: $2960
Once it's finished, we'll send it off to be transfered and processed before being returned.
Crafty/ Food: $2000 (for 30 days)
Nutritious food and water are essential to great film making. Crews find it hard to work the long hours on an empty stomach.
Expendables: $200
Tape, clothes pins and various other things we may need on set.
Film Festivals: $520
This will be the money we use for film festivals. We aim to have it in film festivals all over the world but for now focusing mainly on the East Coast.
Art Direction: $500
Wardbrobe, makeup and set dressings can turn a mediocre movie into a great one.
There have been only a few campaigns that have offered such few perks. Many filmmakers get into the mind frame that more perks will make more money. Our focus is on one dollar. If every person we knew donated one dollar, we'd have twice our budget.
If we don't meet our goal we won't be totally out of luck. Where there's a will there is a way and we'll make sure we find it. Film is our number one priority. We're commited to shooting this on the format that created this industry. It's not just about being "old school." We're firm believers that 16mm is the best choice for this film. The rest will be spent on food and festivals.
We're organizing several fundraisers to help reach this goal of $10,000.
The Impact
This story has an underlying theme of addiction and finding one's place in the world. This is something most people have struggled with at one time or another, and or know someone who has. This story puts a new twist on the tired topic and unites everyone who has personally struggled or wittnessed somone battle these obstacles.
