Who are we?
The Yepez family has been protecting Sea Turtles on the coast of Veracruz, Mexico since 1967 and today Fundación Yepez protects 43km of beach and over 1000 adult female turtles (Kemp´s Ridley and Green Turtle) that nest every year between March and November. We also protect their nests as well as their hatchlings, approx. 100 per nest, which have a survival to adulthood statistic of 1 per 1000!

We also work on several other environmental projects such as reforestation, recycling, community projects and environmental education - all closely related with sea turtle conservation.
What do we need?
We are looking for help to fund the start of the season of 2013.
We need $5000 to be able to:
- Repair our quadbikes
- Buy gasoline
- Pay small salaries to our 3 permanent staff
- To buy and repair necessary equipment such as flashlights, cameras, rainproof clothing, material and medicine to transport and treat injured or ill sea turtles etc.
This project is over 45 years old and every cent raised goes directly towards the protection and conservation of the endangered sea turtles (whether we receive $50 or $5000) We invite you to come and visit us and join us on the beach to see these amazing animals nest or to observe as the hatchlings emerge from their nests and make their way to the ocean, so that you too can see with your own eyes their beauty and importance to the ecosystems and understand that we MUST protect them from extinction.
Why help?
There is perhaps no creature more global than the sea turtle. Traveling across all the great oceans, they lay their eggs on beaches around the world. The small baby turtles emerge from the sand on these shores, and if they are lucky enough to reach adulthood, they embark on journeys that mark thousands of miles and many international waters. The increasing hazards, from poachers to pollution, fishing nets to invasion of their nesting habitat, are killing these animals at a fast rate. Sea turtles have been on this planet over 150 million years but if we do not act fast, they will die out. Please help us in our mission to protect them and their habitat.
How can YOU help?

Sincerely,
The whole team at
