My name is Matteo Pont. I'm 27, I'm Italian, I'm a graphic designer.
I decided to sail on a sailboat.
I grew up in a mountain village and my life always been an earth-life. Then, two years ago, I discover the sea. I decided to sail on a sailboat. I want to see what lies beyond. Beyond the horizon, on the other hand, far away. A horizon that is not only a geographical line, a limit, but it’s the set of our own limitations, of my limitations. I want to go further. And to tell you what I’ll found on the other side.

Clipper World Race.
Three words.
A world of water, storm and discovers.
I entered in the Clipper World Race Crew. An ambitious project, eleven months of sailing, the entire circumnavigation of the planet within the only regatta for non professionals, touching the five continents, organized by Sir Robin Knox-Johnston, the first yachtsman who circumnavigate the world, alone, without stops, in 1969.
I'll leave on June 2015. To live an adventure that will make me cover 40.000 miles, racing within a 12 ships-fleet, crossing two times the equator, facing 65 knots-fast winds, with temperatures from below zero to 40 degrees. An adventure on board of a 70feet long Clipper, with other 21 travel companions. I know that during navigation I’ll have to deal with strain, with the desire to go back home, with the wish to stop to rolling of waves. I know what I am going to face, and it’s what I dream. I want to do it because I want to learn, to keep discovering, to come back and have a story to tell about what’s on the other side. I want to be able to tell what it feels like to be in the middle of the Atlantic’s waves, what do you see from water, rounding the Cape of Good Hope.
All this it’s on you, on your generosity and curiosity to get a story in return.

Seayonara will become a handy manual of the sea for those who, like me, are not skilled seaman but are moved by a strong passion.
I work in visual communication, for me to visualize other people’s thoughts is spontaneous.
I want to put all on a side, for a moment, and try to work on something strongly personal, something that will end up on paper, back on white, something to leave to future generations, in the form of a diary. All the material I’ll collect will create SEAYONARA, a manual written by a boy with the desire to go far away, by sea, to keep looking for something else, to tell what’s on the other side. This will be an editorial product for enthusiastics, for beginners, for graphic designers, for any other designer, for who share and love travelling, adventure stories.
