Short Summary
Colbylocks Productions is producing the musical, "See What I Wanna See" by Michael John La Chiusa. The musical was originally done off- Broadway in 2005. The last time it was done in NYC was 2009 for 2 short performances. We feel like it is time to be brought back and reimagined. Especially with everything that is going on in the world today. We have the Westboro Baptist Church with their extremist beliefs who are unwilling to look from different perspectives. There were the bombings in Boston and the tragedy in Newtown Connecticut this year. Hate crimes are everywhere these days. More than ever this show needs to be brought back to the public again. The show deals with seeing and believeing truths from different perspectives. Is their ever an absolute truth? Or is the truth a mix of everyone's perspective. We would hope as a group that audiences would leave the show willing to open their eyes to different perspectives than their own.
Synopsis
Based on Japanese
short stories by Ryūnosuke Akutagawa:
"Kesa and Morito", "In a Grove" (the inspiration also for
Akira Kurosawa's Rashomon) and "The Dragon". The story is told in two
parts with two prologues. Each prologue involves the medieval lovers/killers
Kesa and Morito. The first act follows a murder in Central Park in 1951 from
the various perspectives of several different characters. Act two centers on a
priest, wavering in his faith, who creates a hoax about a miracle.

- Royalties/ Rights for the show: $938 for 5 performances
- Publicity/ Marketing: $200
- Costumes: $100

There are a lot of incentives for donating such as tickets to the show, personalized video thank yous, and possibly items signed by the composer, Michael John La Chiusa. Also if you own your business you can get an ad in the program.
This show is already on a fast track and is creating a buzz because of it's subject matter. If we do not reach our goal we will find a way to do it, it just might not have as good a chance of getting picked up for a bigger arena.
If we go above and beyond our goal...
It means we can actually give a stipend to everyone that has volunteered all their time, and save for a possible future production of the show in a larger venue. Think off- Broadway.
The Impact
Your contribution will have a much greater value than it's face value:
- The show will be a start to social change and awareness.
- The show will provide a platform for hard working and talented people to showcase what they have to offer.
- This show will provide work in an industry that is highly dependent on other people.
- Also an incredible work of musical theater will get it's chance to be performed again after such a long time.
- It has a great message about how the truth varies from one person to another. So what really is truth? Is there a perfect truth or is it all circumstatial?
- It's also tax deductible!
Other Ways You Can Help
As a starving artist I understand what its like to have a tight budget:
- Tell your friends and family about the campaign
- Post it on facebook/ twittwer/ instagram etc. with the indiegogo share tools!
- Come to the show!
Every little bit will make a huge difference.
