sExtOrtiOn (C) 2012 ptmc
I'm back at it again.... after exceeding my fund raising goals last summer for PRIDE RIVER CROSSING and winning Awards for Best Playwright & Best Ensemble Acting at the All Out Arts Fresh Fruit Festival, I now have the teen sexting dramedy, sExtOrtiOn, to bring to Festival July 8th through July 14th, 2013 at The Wild Project on NYC's lower east side.
sExtOrtiOn is a fictional account of actual events regarding a teen sexting scandal that shook a community and made national news. The term sExtOrtiOn was coined by the media for the particular combination of teen texting/sexting and subsequent extortion. Our story deals with a boy who poses as a girl on a social media site to get others to send him compromising photos & videos, and "sextorts" them into upping the ante with each contact with the threat of exposure. This "sextortion" took place for over a year before anyone outside the boy's circle knew of it, and the subsequent exposure of the situation had everyone wondering how it could have ever taken place.
In sExtOrtiOn, 6 boys, 2 girls & 1 adult, take the audience on a harrowing cyber ride into the world of teen sexting. Comedy & drama cover the bases of... sexual identity, texting/sexting, bullying, pack behaviors, teen recklessness, adult/child relationships and coping mechanisms.
"We all cope in different ways", says one character, and I cope by putting the story into the mouths of 9 actors to tell the tale. Help me & those 9 actors & the creative team tell the tale of Donny Doirko sentenced as an adult for what he did as a minor now spending an inordinate number of years incarcerated.
Without you, this tale will remain between the covers of a report binder and not see the light of day. With you, a light can shine on problems of injustice in our court systems and day to day terrors teens face in just walking into school.
Help me focus that light, and help sExtortiOn find the light of day.......
And, all contributions are tax deductible through the umbrella of CAN'T SLEEP INC's 501c3 for creating new work, with your Pay Pal connected donation.
And, if you can't "cope" financially right now, please help us get the word out and make some noise about our Indiegogo campaign by using the Indiegogo share tools.
Thank you for your continuing or original support .....
