SHADOW BOUND The Web Series
SHADOW BOUND is a five episode black-and-white silent horror web series created by Nathan Shelton. The series follows famed horror writer, Jack Pickman, as he returns to his childhood home after the mysterious death of his estranged father. Jack finds his brother institutionalized in an asylum and later discovers evidence insisting that his father’s last case may have been to blame for his untimely death. Jack sets out with his two childhood friends to uncover the truth about the strange happenings in Veritas. However, as their investigation unfolds, Jack finds himself in a desperate race to save the world from an ancient evil emerging from the shadows.
SHADOW BOUND takes place in the faded remains of the once great Roaring Twenties in the mythic city of Veritas. It is an old place. A place with a long memory. A city of shadows and hidden terrors long forgotten by the modern world of the 1930s. And sometimes, as viewers discover, the shadows hide things best left forgotten.
Our Goal
The SHADOW BOUND cast and crew aim to create a unique and original horror experience. SHADOW BOUND will be a black-and-white silent horror serial with homages to many elements of the original 1920s silent masterpieces; however, it is not a strict recreation of that style. By using HD video technology, guerilla filmmaking techniques, and a mixture of practical and computer generated special effects, we can create a truly terrifying and visceral tale for the modern audience with SHADOW BOUND.
Even with a modest budget, the skills, ingenuity, and expertise of our talented cast and crew will make SHADOW BOUND look and feel like a million dollar production. We are excited to invite you to join us in the creation of this amazing series. Every additional dollar we raise through this campaign will make SHADOW BOUND even more spectacular with better props, costumes, sets, and special effects. Every dollar we raise will go into the production of this web series and its subsequent distribution.
Once SHADOW BOUND is complete, we will release it to Vimeo and YouTube for public viewing as well as enter it into film festivals throughout the world.
Who We Are
ARCANE PRODUCTIONS and the talented crew of the SHADOW BOUND project are a group of filmmakers and actors currently based in Springfield, Missouri who have many years of experience in film, television, and theatre production between them.
Nathan Shelton (Creator, Executive Producer) is an accomplished actor and award-winning director and special effects designer who has worked on everything from Oscar award-winning films (Winter’s Bone) to theatrical productions of Dracula, Evil Dead: The Musical, and his own stage adaptation of Night of the Living Dead. Bryan Arata (Musical Score) lives in Los Angeles and works with 20th Century Fox, aiding in the composition of music for Family Guy and American Dad as well as working on films such as Live Free or Die Hard. See more of his work here.
Jason Brasier (Episode One Director, Consultant) is an award-winning writer, director, and producer of online content and film. He is co-owner of American Wasteland Entertainment whose focus is on web series development and film productions. Garrett Tripp (Episode Two Director) is an accomplished director and producer who has received a College Emmy from the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences for his work on the award-winning web series, "Epilogue". He recently had his short film, "Komisch”, in the Short Film Corner at the 2013 Cannes Film Festival.
Dan Smiley (Series Director of Photography/ Cinematographer) is the owner of SmileyFace Productions and has worked on the award winning web series Epilogue, and the short film Komish which screened at the 2013 Cannes Film Festival. Some of his other projects include films like Venute, At the Top of My Lungs and many others, including Night of the Living Dead: Live On Stage with Nathan Shelton.
