Friends and Strangers,
I am using this platform in order to finish the recording and support the release (promotion and touring) of my next collection of songs Haunted Things; an EP addressing the ways in which I, and I suppose all of us, are haunted by the concepts of love, sex, romance, and chivalry. The music is written. The arrangements are finished. All that's left is to breathe guts and fire into it.
In return for your support, some of you will receive an exclusive prologue of sorts in the form of Red Room Vol. 2. Red Room Vol. 2 is a six- song EP that serves as a journal of my personal deconstruction of life and love prior to writing Haunted Things, and was recorded in 8 hours on 11/9/2013. More about that later. It will not be released through conventional retail channels. Here is a behind the scenes look at the making of Red Room Vol. 2.
About Me And This Music
Over the past several years I have released two full-length albums. The most recent album, Counterfeit Arcade, was dubbed New And Noteworthy Alternative by iTunes and the video for the song "Weight Of The World" was premiered by Filter Magazine. I've toured the eastern half of this country and have had the pleasure of performing with my trio at festivals and events like CMJ NYC, Art Basel, Miami, Foburg Fest, New Orleans, and Hope & Glory, Hong Kong. Perhaps even more importantly to address than all that is what creating and performing this music means. I won't write too much about the music itself, but you can certainly Watch and Listen to past releases and Read Reviews & Features if you feel so inclined.
Haunted Things is, for me, an aggressive charge out the tangles of the darkest time of my life thus far. I cannot express the gravity of its pending success, emotionally and otherwise. I've spent the last several years of my life building a creative refinery in the back of my brain. Meeting this goal will help proliferate not only these new collections, but those I've released before and will release afterward.
What I Need & What You Get
In order to successfully release this recording, I will need to raise $15,000. Funds will serve to finish the recording (in progress), mixing, mastering, promotion, and regional tour support. In the interest of transparency, below is a break down of the costs associated. After contributing you will be kept up to date with every step forward through email, video, and more.
EP Tracking - $2,600
EP Mixing - $1,800
EP Mastering - $600
Promotion/Regional Tour Support - $5,000
Publicity - $5,000
Should I raise more than the goal here, I will allocate funds to additional touring, vinyl pressings, and additional promotion.
You will get all of the perks listed to the right of this page. Feel free to comment on this page or contact me directly with any questions.
The Impact
Your contribution to this creative process is essential. You are not simply helping me record and release songs. You are defining the ways in which I move forward as a maker.
I am not one for chest pounding but thus far, I think I've done just fine in proliferating this music I make. I've released two albums successfully, grown a regional fan-base here in the tristate area and expanded to areas I wouldn't have imagined (Berlin, Paris, and more). I am poised to become better. I will take this music as far as my bones will carry it. It will be my boot-print in the mud when I am dead. I do this because I must. The exciting thing to ponder is that it won't be only mine once this is done. It will, quite simply, be ours.
Every step of this process will be documented and made available to you. Even the sleepless nights and, more than likely, the creation of new/next stories alongside of it.
Other Ways You Can Help
Beyond the funding, this music needs a network. Share it. The old and the new. Share the process. Share everything. This won't be mine when it's done. It will be ours.
