The Karibu Centre is making a difference to the lives of hundreds of disadvantaged children in Kenya.
We want to build a new website and produce a promotional film so that more people can find out about and contribute to the development plans at the Children's centre.
Your support for our project is so important. A decent website seems like such a simple thing but expansion and future funding for the centre would be almost impossible without it. We want to make the site worthy of the incredible place it will be representing which is why we're asking for your help.
The new website will provide a place for people to find out more information, to donate, to arrange a visit, to connect with similar organisations and to help with expansion projects.
Computer Education for over 500 children
The centre has partnered with Intel Corporation to pilot a computer program specially designed for children. The centre is fully equipped with mini laptops which the children get to use every day. For children who live in tin houses with no electricity, this is a unique and incredible opportunity. The computer program was so successful at the centre that it has now expanded into the local public schools. The government are very interested in extending the program all across Kenya.
Nutrition & Knowledge
The educational day program provides two nutritious meals and early childhood education for the poorest of children age 2-7 from the nearby slum communities.
Rescuing Vulnerable Mothers and Babies
The abandoned baby centre provides rescue care for starving, neglected, and medically fragile babies - including HIV positive infants. The babies are loved and nurtured until they can be resettled back into their birth families or placed with a family for adoption.
The pregnancy support centre is a residential program supporting teenage girls who do not have family support during their pregnancies. Many of these girls have been thrown out of school or sent away from their families as a result of their pregnancy.
All of this amazing work and hardly anybody has heard of The Karibu Centre. We want this to change. We want to provide a new website to help them achieve the development, funding and expansion they so deserve.
We need to raise $4000 (£2,500) to cover the costs of the web design and film editing.
All you Brits donating out there-I know the site requires you to pay in dollars but please don't let that stop you donating. Here is a rough guide using the current exchange rate.
