We open on a bar...
...an oasis in the night. Three young men arrive and share a silent drink, disturbed by the twenty-four hours that preceded it. They have survived the hardest day of their lives, but do they have any idea how tightly their stories are intertwined?
Meet the Team: Two-Bit Pictures
Two-Bit Pictures is a team that originally came together in 2011 to compete in the 48 Hour Film Project in Boston, MA. After nine competition films in two years, we decided it was time to take on something bigger.
Director Rick Desilets first wrote Shots in November 2009 as a screenplay submission based on the theme of the "quarter-life crisis" -- the notion of twenty-somethings leaving college and hitting the brick wall of today's economy and workforce. Helplessness, confusion, and the overwhelming weight of expectations fuel the screenplay as seen through the eyes of these characters struggling to save themselves from the flood.
This is the first film by Two-Bit Pictures to be filmed outside competition formats. And that means no more production or duration limits, and lots of filmmaking freedom on our end! Production will be taking place primarily (if not exclusively) in Worcester, Massachusetts in June-July 2013, with the Sahara Restaurant serving as our bar, the central location of the film.
Tending Bar and Serving Shots
So here's the skinny. We're looking to raise $5000 to fund this production. We have camera equipment and a basic light setup which, while it worked for our previous competitions films, is unlikely to be sufficient for a larger-scale production.
Not only are we looking to obtain the equipment necessary to make this happen, we also aim to produce DVDs for purchase, as well as submit this film to festivals throughout the country including Sundance, Slamdance, the Boston Film Festival, and more!
Take a look at those perks on the side, too. A few new ones may crop up as the fundraiser moves forward, so keep checking back for updates!
Rewards on Tap
We've got lots of rewards in store, so take a look below to see what you could get for your contribution to our project!
Shout Outs!
Every single person who contributes to the project will get a shout out in our first production vlog! What's more, anyone who puts in $5 gets a shout out after we take a drink of your choice. Better still, those who pitch in over $100 will even get a special shout out on the DVD as well. Good times.
The Film!
We really, really want you to see our film! So much so that everyone who puts in $10 gets access to a private, digital copy of the film on Vimeo, and anyone who gives $20 or more gets a DVD with extras!
Signature Swag!
Hey man, who knows? Anyone on this project could be a big star at a moment's notice, so here's your chance to get their John Hancock. Anyone pitching in over $50 gets a DVD, poster, and cast photo, signed by the cast and crew! How cool is that?
The Premiere!
We're shooting to hold our premiere on November 30, 2013, and we want people to come, so we're giving out tons of tickets! Anyone who puts in $50 or more will get 2 tickets, $100 gets you 4 tickets, $200 lands you 6 tickets, and $1000 nets you a whopping 10 tickets to the premiere!
Your Face on the Big Screen!
We had to throw in one really neat perk, so here it is: anyone who puts $200 or more into the pot will be invited to the filming of the opening scene of the movie, where you will be captured on film, immortalized on DVD!
Credits!
Every Two-Bit Pictures project eventually makes its way onto IMDb. How would you like your name to show up there too? Because for every person that donates $10, $100, or $1000, your name will not only appear in the film credits as a Contributor, Associate Producer, or Executive Producer, but it will also go up on IMDb for all to see!
The Chaser
It doesn't take much to help out; every dollar counts! And the buck doesn't have to stop with you, either. Tell your friends! Tell your family! Post, tweet, share, insta-whatever and show the world you support independent film!
