Cos’è Sinapsi Film? / What is Sinapsi Film?
Sinapsi Film è una città che cerca di raccontarsi attraverso
un film partecipato, ovvero un film “dal basso”. Sessanta soggetti di diversa
età, sesso, professione, sono stati
selezionati tra oltre duecentoventi candidati al progetto in diverse zone di
Bari (centri commerciali, bar, pub, cinema, Università, Mediateca, vie dello
shopping). Dopo un percorso di quattro mesi stanno portando a termine con
l’aiuto di professionisti del cinema un’opera cinematografica corale,
vivendo per la prima volta il cinema da protagonisti e non da spettatori.
Sinapsi Film is a city that
tries to narrate itself though a participative movie. It’s a bottom-up movie.
Sixty different people of different ages, sex and profession fields have been
selected among more than 220 candidates. The castings took place in different
areas of the city of Bari: shopping malls, bars, pubs and cinemas, at the
University, at the Regional Mediatheque, in the streets where people go
shopping. After a four-months path, with the help of some professionals from
the film industry they are now carrying through a choral cinematic work. They
are passing from being spectators to be protagonists of their own movie.
E' una scuola di cinema? / Is it a film school?
Assolutamente no. Sinapsi Film è un lungometraggio
realizzato seguendo il processo di genesi di un film tradizionale. I
partecipanti, dopo una prima fase di formazione collettiva, sono stati divisi nei
reparti che cooperano alla costruzione di un’opera cinematografica. A capo di
ogni reparto (recitazione, regia, scrittura, scenografia, fotografia, suono,
produzione) c’è un tutor che mette in gioco la sua esperienza per aiutare i
partecipanti nelle scelte da compiere in fase produttiva e dar loro una
formazione sul mestiere affrontato.
Absolutely not. Sinapsi film is a feature film
realized by following the creation process of a traditional movie. The participants,
after a first stage of collective training, have been divided in the different groups
that cooperate to the construction of a movie. There’s a tutor heading each
division (acting, directing, scriptwriting, scenography, cinematography, sound,
production). With their experience, they train the participants with basics of
their profession and help them to decide how to deal with the issues before of
and on the set.
Di cosa parla il film? / What is the movie about?
Bari nel 2015 diventerà a tutti gli effetti “città metropolitana”. Sinapsi decide di affrontare questo mutamento con una storia che parla di partenze e ritorni. Il soggetto racconta di legami familiari allentati dalle distanze. Raffaele è un ricercatore universitario che per la sua carriera decide di lasciare città e affetti. Il suo treno in partenza s’incrocerà con quello di Gianni che invece decide di tornare a Bari dopo una dozzina d'anni di assenza. Una mamma vive in simbiosi con il più piccolo dei suoi figli che nel suo segreto coltiva il sogno di fare lo scrittore, per farlo dovrà essere ammesso all'Università a numero chiuso di Venezia vincendo la borsa di studio e i suoi sensi di colpa.
In 2015 Bari will become officially a metropolitan
city. Sinapsi decides to face this change with a story about departures and
comebacks, familiar relations loosened by the distance. Raffaele is a
university researcher who decides to leave his city and affections for the
pursuit of his career. His train will cross the way of Gianni’s one. This one
chooses to come back to Bari after twelve years. A mum lives a symbiotic
relation with her youngest son who secretly dreams about becoming a writer. To
achieve his goal he needs to get selected in a specific University in Venice,
winning a scholarship and his guilt feelings.
Chi sono i partecipanti? / Who are the participants?
Uno dei partecipanti potresti essere anche tu, che vedi
questo video. Si tratta di persone normali accomunate dalla passione per il
cinema che sono venute quasi casualmente a contatto con questa nuova realtà
nata grazie al contributo di Principi Attivi. Impiegati, studenti, disoccupati, metalmeccanici, liberi professionisti,
professori, commercianti, hanno deciso di vivere quest’esperienza
dedicandosi anima e corpo al progetto.
C’è chi si ritaglia alcuni giorni della settimana per seguire le lezioni, chi
esce un’ora prima dal lavoro, chi viene nonostante gli esami da preparare. La
motivazione è l’ingrediente principale.
One of the participants could be you! They are all
normal people linked by their common passion for cinema. In a way, they came
across this project by chance and now they are putting all their energies in
it. Employees, students, unemployed people, steelworkers, freelancers,
professors, shop-keepers: some of them leave the job one hour in advance, some
others come in spite of the exams to prepare or the amount of work to do. The
motivation is the main ingredient!

Il tuo aiuto è fondamentale per portare il film a compimento. Perché quest’opera sia VERAMENTE partecipata (oltre che per mancanza di una grande produzione alle spalle) necessita del tuo contributo. Se avete trovato interessanti quei progetti in cui tanti video inviati da smpartphone, oppure commenti su youtube, danno la possibilità ad un regista di creare un film "partecipato", prendete il nostro progetto e spiegateci quale dei due secondo voi concretizza meglio il sogno di una persona: vedere il proprio video inserito in un'opera dal gusto raffinato che mette in evidenza le capacità dell'autore o partecipare collettivamente alla scrittura della sceneggiatura, al montaggio di una quinta, al posizionamento delle luci capendo come funzionano le dinamiche di un set cinematografico insieme ad altre persone, magari vicine di casa, che non si
conoscevano prima di questa esperienza?
Your help is fundamental to finalize the movie. To REALLY
be participated, this work needs your contribution. If those projects made by
an editing of several smartphone and youtube videos were interesting for you,
compare them to our project and consider which one realize better the idea of
making a participatory movie. One underlines the tastes of an author, which
selects the footage filmed by other people. The other one gives the possibility
to get to know new people (maybe that neighbour you never spoke with, that girl
you always see in the bus and don’t even know her name, …) by making a movie
from scratch, together: writing the script, building the set, positioning the
lights, organizing the shooting.
A cosa serve il tuo contributo? / What will your donation be used for?
Il tuo contributo serve a completare le riprese del film nell’ultima fase, a finanziare la postproduzione audio, la color correction e a garantire che il film possa essere presentato in più occasioni possibile (il che richiede un gran lavoro, oltre che dei costi evidenti). Una tua donazione ci permetterà di concretizzare la nostra idea nata un anno e mezzo fa e iniziata a materializzarsi a novembre con i sessanta partecipanti raccolti in un'unica aula. Vogliamo farvi vedere il film, il gran lavoro c’è dietro e, soprattutto, vorremmo poter ripetere quest’esperienza.
Your donation is necessary to end the shooting for the
last part of the movie, to fund the audio and video post-production, the colour
correction. It will also be used to distribute the movie as wider as possible.
Your donation will allow us to see our dream coming true. It’s been more than a
year and a half since we started working on this idea. A regional fund
permitted us to bring the idea into reality and get the project up to this stage.
Now, with your support, we could show what all our efforts brought to, what a
great movie we will be able to make and, hopefully, repeat the entire experience.

We are Sinapsi Produzioni Partecipate, an association of social promotion born one year ago thanks to the Apulia regional fund Principi Attivi.
