My name is Didjak Munya, and I am a Congolese rapper from Kinshasa, DR Congo. A rapper from the age of 15, I have released two albums and collaborated with musicians such as Papa Wemba on my first album and Lokua Kanza, Jean Goubald, and a host of others on my second album, which is available for download on iTunes and Amazon.

The life of a musician in central Africa is a challenge, requiring constant input of personal resources in an environment in which there is no industrial musical support for rappers or other musicians, either in terms of finances or infrastructure. But I am committed to continuing to share with the world my ideas and to making people think and move. Music is the language through which I have chosen to communicate - this decision drives my creative choices and fuels my determination to provide a vehicle for my messages.
I am currently working on my future EP, entitled K-ke (or Thunder Bolt), with four titles that will be made in the United States. I will be recording in a high-quality professional studio to have the best sound quality possible, following which I’ll be making the videos to go along with the EP, which will launch in April 2014. This is an important project for me, as music is my entire world.
The $30,000 project budget will cover all related expenses: travel, studio fees, filming the videos, and initial promotion of the EP. With this amount, I can ensure access to excellent professional quality sound and video. Given current competition in the music world, these elements are essential to ensure diffusion of K-ke on international radio and television.
Those who contribute to this project will receive perks such as a CD officially dedicated to you by me, as well as my public gratitude, packages including the official t-shirt from my album Oxygène, and for the highest contribution of $5,000, a contributor will have not only a full package of my music, but also a dedication especially for them on one of the songs from the EP. For those that contribute at levels from $2 through $100, you will receive links for legal download of songs and/or albums. It is thanks to you that I will be able to undertake this project that is very close to my heart.
Your contributions can change my life, and it is thanks to you that I can continue to independently produce hip-hop music that not only comes from the heart, but will make you want to stand up and get your groove on.
Please pass this message to others in your circles, your friends and acquaintances that want to support independent African hip-hop. Use your social networks and Indiegogo.com to share this call for support.
Thank you.
