35mm Film Redux
The 35mm feature-length motion picture
Sleeping Pills was an official selection at the 27th Cairo International Film Festival, over a decade ago. The creative team is seeking funds to restore and remaster this remarkable celluloid curiosity.
Historical Preservation Imperative
There is a Colorado historical
preservation imperative in restoring
Sleeping Pills. The vast
majority of buildings and locations that we filmed in 1999 are now
non-existent (there were many locations in
Denver, Lakewood, Thornton, and Aurora). Approximately 95% of these have
been demolished. So the feature's rich 35mm architectural
cinematography (both interiors and exteriors) is likely the best
document of these buildings' existence. Take a look at the film's
trailer, you might remember some these places.
Objective
We need to raise at least $7,000. This will cover:
- Picture editor compensation (new, improved edit)
- Sound editor and re-recording engineer compensation (new sound mix)
- Graphic designer compensation (new poster and disc art)
- DI (Digital Intermediate) remastering costs
- Blu-Ray authoring, manufacturing, shipping and AACS fees
- New DCP (Digital Cinema Package)
- Theatre rental for Denver Metro area (Colorado) screenings
I'm offering contributors a new 'Redux' version Blu-Ray Discs of the
film as a perk. There are also other perks - such as advance tickets
for Colorado theatrical screenings of the Redux version in Summer 2014
(if the goal is reached).
For more about the film and its history, please read my full director's statement. The film's IMDb listing has full credit details.
Blu-ray Extras!
Also included on the Blu-Ray will be the short film Refraction with music by Testube and the Obliq Optik material from Kinotonik Pictures' collaboration with IDM record label Obliq Recordings. Their artists Multicast, Crix Madine and Freq Modif also had music in the Sleeping Pills feature along with Testube, Penetrator and Project 12:01.
