What is Slumber City?
Slumber City is a film. A short film. A Student Film. It is the senior thesis project of Donald Hallene III (aka Me!) and will be the last big chance to show off my creativity and flair before I graduate from film school.
Slumber City follows Nathaniel McKay, a struggling writer who also struggles with bad dreams. As a child, he had terrible dreams, most featuring a dreaded figure he calls Mr. Night. As he grew older, he found ways to supress the dreams, but now they are fighting their way back, and his daughter Molly has started to have them as well.
While spending a weekend with Molly, the two of them are whisked away to a strange place called Slumber City, where all of Nathaniel's repressed dreams live. Mr. Night has taken Molly, and Nathaniel has until sunrise to get her back. With help from a strange new friend, he must find the clues to free Molly.
Slumber City is a fun fantasy adventure set in a world of nightmares and monsters. The film will be shot in the Summer of 2013, with a public release currently schedueld for October 2013
What We Need & What You Get
Here's why I'm doing this crowdfunding. I want a budget. Not a huge one, mind you, but something I can use to do a few things
- Properly feed my cast and crew. Pizza can only go so far.
- Rent equipment that I may not be able to get from school, like better microphones to ensure quality audio, and maybe even a better camera!
- Possibly pay people! This is a bit of a pipe dream on a student film, but it would be cool if I could at least cover the cost of transportation and resources used.
I am going to try and offer some cool perks for those who do donate. If you donate you automatically get a digital copy of the film, sent to you when it's officially released. Here are some other goodies in store.
- Thank You Cards (yeah, not the coolest thing, but it's the thought that counts)
- Physical copy of the finished film (on DVD and possibly Blu-Ray)
- A Printed Poster (possibly autographed)
- A Copy of the Script
- A Chance to BE IN THE MOVIE
- Your Name in the Credits!
If we don't reach the 3000, we'll use what funds we have to reach our goal of properly taking care of cast and crew and getting good equipment. It may not cover everything, but any help is good help.
The Impact
This is my chance to make a film that shows off who I am as a filmmaker. If you know me, you know that telling stories is my greatest passion. Helping me with these funds will allow me to take this film to another level, and you get to come along for the journey!
Other Ways You Can Help
Some people just can’t contribute, but that doesn’t mean they can’t help:
- Spread the word! If you know someone who would be interested in this film, let them know! Any help is good help!
Thanks for taking the time to visit this page, and if you contribute, thank you so much. I can't wait to share this film with the world.
