WE DID IT!!!

Thank you to everyone that has donated so far! We honestly cannot thank you enough for everything you've done to help us reach our goal and put on what we think will be a very fun and entertaining 24 hours. This is enough to get us going but what if we could go further?

Although we can get by with what we have, we want to be sure you get a top-notch production. Well, as top-notch as possible in a small living space. With a few days left in the auction, we would love to raise more funds to be able to afford the following:

Audio Mixer and Cables
Goal Amount: $900

If we reach $900, we'll be able to purchase a hardware audio mixer and cables. This will allow us to ensure audio levels between the talent, game, and possibly guests on Skype are all at the appropriate levels. Seriously. Nobody likes listening to blown out audio.

Shipping Costs and any other unexpected expenditures
Goal Amount: $900+

After reaching $900, we will use any additional money to cover shipping costs of prizes that will be given away during the marathon. Unfortunately, we are unable to provide a true estimate for this amount due to the varying sizes of the prizes and their unknown destinations. (Note: larger prizes will be restricted to Canadian and US locations due to extreme shipping costs.)

Goal Amount: any unused funds

If we are able to cover all shipping costs (which we'll be estimating throughout the marathon as we learn of the prize destinations) and any other unexpected expenditures, any unused funds will be donated to Sick Kids Foundation.

To help us reach our goal, we've dropped our Premier Sponsor perk to $175. Remember that this will let the donors advertise (just about) anything every hour during the live stream. See perk details further down the page.

With SEGA’s latest upcoming release in the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise on the Wii U, we are happy to officially announce plans to hold a special Sonic Lost World “First Play” live streamed marathon to raise money for charity.

For this event, David Oxford (writer for Nintendo Force magazine, the Mega Man Robot Master Field Guide, and “Super Mario Bros. in Neo Bowser City”) and Ian Flynn (writer for Archie Comics’ Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic Universe, and Mega Man titles) will team up to play through SEGA’s Sonic Lost World for the first time ever (barring Ian’s short time with the demo at San Diego Comic-Con, anyway) through to the end shortly after the game is released.

The event will benefit the Sick Kids Foundation, a non-profit children's charity that raises funds on behalf of The Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto.

The stream is scheduled to begin Saturday, October 26th – four days after the game’s Tuesday release. Over the course of 24 hours, our plan is to play the game from start to finish, checking out its different features and modes as well.

How You Can Help Make This Event Happen

The fact of the matter is that this is the first time either of us have done anything like this, and the above is what we want to do. The downside is that we’re lacking some of the equipment necessary to do a live stream, and we aren’t exactly flush with cash at the moment.

As a result, we are accepting pre-marathon donations to help us get the equipment we need. We would also like to note that with the equipment in place, we would definitely like to do more such marathons for charity in the future, but the fact remains: Right now, we need your help to make any of this possible at all.

What We Need

Below is a list of equipment we would like to be able to obtain. Our first goal is to be able to obtain the basic equipment listed. We would like the be able to raise enough funds to obtain the preferred equipment.

DIY Lighting Assembly

To try and keep things simple at first, we're looking at putting together our own lighting kit using off-the-shelf hardware. The kit is built using the information provided in a video by Still Motion. Prices for these items are a little more up there in Canada.

As you can tell, we're already strapped for cash. This means we don't have much to give in return. But since we're running a live stream, we figured it'd be a great opportunity for you to get your message out! (Not to mention give us a bathroom break. 24 hours is a long time!)

Social Media Mention

All levels of donation (except $1 donors) will get a mention / thank you on the various Nyteworks Networks social media feeds. This includes Mario's Hat, PoisonMushroom.org, Pre-Order Blog. You will need to provide us with links to your social media profile(s) that you would like mentioned.

Mention on Live Stream

Gold Contributors and Bronze Sponsors will receive a mention during the live stream. These mentions will be spread throughout the live stream at no specific time.

Mention on Web Site

Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Premier Sponsors will all receive a link their web site or social profile on the Sonic Lost World First Run Charity Marathon web site. Bronze Sponsors will receive a text link. Text can be the name of their site or their own personal name. Silver, Gold, and Premier Sponsors may choose a text link or graphic link. Graphic must be provided by sponsor.

We ask that whatever it is you wish to link to, please keep it clean. We reserve the right to reject any link if it is deemed offensive or inappropriate. In other words, rated Everyone 10+ (E10+).

Text / Video Promotion during Live Stream

With the Silver, Gold, and Premier Sponsor donation levels, we will give you the opportunity to promote (almost) anything you want. This can be in the form of a video to be played (Gold and Premier Sponsors only) or a written out promo for us to read.

It is your responsibility to provide us with the video you want played or text you want read. If it is a text promo, you are welcome to provide us a graphic to be shown on screen at the time the promo is read. We'll send you reminders, but it's your job to create the actual promo. Promos should be no longer than 30 seconds when played or read out loud at a normal pace.

We ask that whatever it is you are promoting, please keep it clean. We reserve the right to reject any promo if it is deemed offensive or inappropriate. In other words, rated Everyone 10+ (E10+).

Silver Sponsor

Silver Sponsors will get a single text-only promotion to be read once. The promotion will be read at :30 past the hour during the hour of your choosing. (For example, if you choose to have your promo read at 7:30 PM on Saturday, that will be the only time it is read.) Priority of time choice based on order in which donation came in.

Gold Sponsor

Gold Sponsors will have text promo read or video promo shown during live stream. It will be read/shown at top of two (2) hours of your choosing alongside our Premier Sponsors. (For example, if you choose 7:00 PM on Saturday and 10:00 AM on Sunday, those will be the only time the promo is read/shown.) Priority of time choice based on order in which donation came in.

Premier Sponsor

Our top level of donation will have their text promo read or video promo shown during the live stream every hour alongside our other Premier Sponsors.

Please note that due to the nature of the live stream and certain game play moments, we may not be able to run these promos at exactly :30 past and the top of the hours. We will do our best to put these promos as close as possible to those times.
