Our Mission Plan:
To donate 5100 DVD's of our educational documentary Christa McAuliffe: Reach for the Stars to the California Science Center (CSC). CSC will then donate them to schools preparing their visit to Space Shuttle Endeavour. We even provide a Lesson Plan!
Educators typically pay hundreds of dollars for the educational rights to show a film in their classroom. But when we reach our goal, they will get one free! in the FIELD TRIP LEARNING KIT.
The film is a learning tool for students to fully understand the history of Space Shuttle Endeavour.
The requested funds will cover manufacturing costs.

“A compelling and honest account of Challenger 51L’s “Teacher in Space” mission … an inspiring tribute to a true American Hero.” -- Buzz Aldrin
Why Space Shuttle Endeavour Field Trip Teachers?
Christa McAuliffe was known as the "Queen of all Field Trips" ☆
Her mission statement "I TOUCH THE FUTURE, I TEACH."
Why the California Science Center?
It's exciting to have Space Shuttle Endeavour at home at the California Science Center, not only because Endeavour was built to replace Challenger, but because both shuttles were built in California. And, as many remember, NASA's first Teacher in Space, Christa McAuliffe, was aboard the ill-fated Challenger in 1986.
21 YEARS LATER, Christa's back-up TEACHER IN SPACE, Astronaut Barbara Morgan, COMPLETED CHRISTA'S MISSION ABOARD ENDEAVOUR!
We get letters every day from students asking about Christa McAuliffe and the history of Challenger, which is part of the 5th grade curriculum.
Educators typically pay hundreds of dollars for the educational rights to show a film in their classroom. But when we reach our goal, they will get one free! in the California Science Center FIELD TRIP LEARNING KIT. We even provide a Teacher Lesson Plan that can be modified for grades 4 through 12.

How Funds Will Be Spent:
The requested funds will cover manufacturing costs. We have already delivered 500 DVDs on our own, and the community response has been tremendous. Imagine how far Christa McAuliffe's encouraging message to students to "Reach for the Stars" can go with 5100 DVDs!

Why 5100 DVD's?
To honor Challenger's final flight, Shuttle Flight 51L, and to fill years worth of Field Trips!
WHO WE ARE:
We are Renee Sotile & Mary Jo Godges, the filmmakers of the documentary Christa McAuliffe: Reach for the Stars. The film is a personal story of NASA's first Teacher in Space who died tragically aboard the space shuttle Challenger.
In the spirit of Christa, we hope as many students as possible experience the uplifting story of one of the country’s most dedicated and respected educators on her journey through the space program.
