In its design, Spellshifter reminds of classic platformer games. Primarily, we chose this kind of appearance because we like it. Our childhoods’ significant elements were the Commodore (C64, C Plus/4) games, which influenced us to become what we are now. We would like to create a game we ourselves would want to play with as well.
The game style could be defined by the mixtured medley of platformer, side-scrolling, upgrading, discovering and logical features. According to our plans, the latter one will be the dominant, which will keep the player in constant playing, since there will be vast numbers of puzzles during the game which must be solved in order to proceed. Between the puzzles, we can complete different missions which may reward us with precious items.

Our story begins with an ordinary hike on an ordinary day. In the mountains, an ordinary young man is playing ball with his absolutely ordinary plush teddy panda. It’s surely absolutely ordinary stuff so far. But their delightful leisure is disturbed by a – maybe not so – natural phenomenon which perfuses the mountain with blinding light within a blink of an eye and deprives our hero of his most precious value – his consciousness.
As a result of this short but meaningful – and of course we keep emphasize that absolutely ordinary – event, our pixel hero loses his best friend, who he has been knowing from the moment his favourite psychiatrist introduced them to each other. So, not wasting thoughts on what to do, he sets out for a journey to find his plush teddy panda. But the short seeking trip later becomes a long – and we might say an absolutely ordinary – adventure.

During the game, there are lots of missions ahead to complete in order to find out where we can find the world’s surely best ace panda. Of course, it would not be an adventure if there wasn’t at least one special spell which surely comes in handy when a man is facing a seemingly insolvable problem (and we will). To the great grief of the harder and harder puzzles, our pixel character will possess many spells of the special kind, which the player could constantly upgrade during the game.
The curiosity of Spellshifter is that many of the puzzles have more possible solutions. Not always the simplest way is the best: the game may reward more resourceful solutions with precious items.

We put a great emphasis on the atmosphere, therefore, we try to make the levels, environments and the surroundings really unique to make the discovery of the world a really joyful and exciting experience. We can play in different periods of day and night, travel the world in different weather conditions and some of the elements of the environment will react to our dynamic wind system. We will easily identify our main character’s change of mood in different moments by his facial expressions making us able to understand his thoughts without a word in the given situation.

"I am Dávid Szöllőskei, music composer of Spellshifter. I've been writing music for more than a decade now, composing own tracks, covering many game tunes and I'm also a composer and guitarist in a rock band called Ex-Noise. Music has been one of the most important things for me since my childhood.
I always loved video games for their power of giving virtual experience by the alloy of their gameplay, plot, graphics and of course: music. In my opinion, music can often be the ultimate source of emotional charge.
Despite the fact that (thanks to the heavy influence of the C64) I really loved chip tunes, 8bit melodies and their unique SID sound, I also listened to the melody itself regardless the sound and often was impressed how fantastic, cool, peculiar and beautiful tunes can be made using simple sounds and only 4 channels max at the same time. Mesmerizing."
Music of Spellshifter is defined by the game's adventurous theme and the atmosphere of this new world's colourful environment. It often combines retro and modern sounds, sometimes with live instruments, resulting in a tuneful musical background of that fantastic journey.
We have written an own level and animation editor for the game which significantly facilitates the subsequent work for us.
Spellshifter is currently in prototype state which means that the basic functions are done but the majority of the content is still to be created. Of course, the game will change a lot till it takes its final shape but the main functions are stable and operational.

We plan to release the game on IOS devices (iphone/ipod, ipad), Android OS and PC platforms as well.

We would like to spend more time with creating the game, but at the moment we’re doing it beside our jobs, and doing both at the same time claims a lot of effort. That's why we've started our Indiegogo campaign.
With the required donation we can significantly shorten the time needed to finish the game but we need You to help us to work at last full-time on what we like to do and by what we may delight and entertain You as well. Your donation will be primarily used to pay related bills and cover essential costs. And if we receive more donation than proposed, we will make the game even better and longer: we will add more puzzles, missions, unique environments and gameplay modes.
