Dear friends/fellow campaigners,
We have marked the Spot of Shame in seven different cities so far and the response to the awareness drive has been positive, with more and more people identifying with our cause. The voices demanding a change in our attitude towards our women are getting louder. So far, we have covered Delhi, Mumbai, Kanpur, Lucknow, Chennai, Ludhiana, Bangalore. And are heading to more spots post Valentine's Day.
Some time over the last year, you recognized our campaign and joined in as a well-wisher, a fellow campaigner- both in the real and the virtual worlds. We started last International Women's Day and went on to be declared Indian of the Year by a leading media house in the country. The momentum gathered throughout 2013 over the death and grievous injuries of several young girls shall not go waste. And to keep it going we are going to mark a 'Spot of Shame' at every place in our country where a girl was injured with an intent to do so. We will mark the spots where acid attacks happened in the country, starting with Khan Market in New Delhi and Bandra Terminus in Mumbai on January 22 and 25, respectively. So far, we have prepared a calendar list of 50 cities across the country, have prepared posters, banners and promotion material and are bringing in more support from media to spread this campaign far and wide.
We will make a SoS graffiti stamp and hold a brief demonstration at every prominent spot.
The entire campaign would require a minimum funding, for which, once again we have asked help from the humanity. There are two different crowd-funding campaigns for Indian and international contributors live on the links pasted below.
Since some of the costs are urgent and these funds may take some time to reach us, you may also consider a Western Union transfer. We are also giving u a basic budget break up for the Spot of Shame campaign.
Below is a rough break up of the cost involved.
Travel and stay (20 cities): $6000
Meals: $1600
Art material: $4000
Posters etc:: $1200
Communication:$1000
