Act NOW. Join Haitian workers' fight for 500 Gourds! ($11.50 per day)
Every day, we wear clothing that is produced through exploitation. It's our responsibility to stand with these workers to demand a fair wage for their labor.
Please support this indiegogo campaign and join the Rapid Response Network to support the efforts of workers for decent wages, working conditions & the right to organize.
On November 29th, after years of delay and wage theft, a minimum wage increase will be announced in Haiti. Batay Ouvriye (Workers' Fight), an autonomous workers' organization, is mobilizing around the country to demand an increase to 500 gourds (approximately $11.50) - the minimum for a family to survive.
The current minimum wage is only 300 gourds (85 cents/hour), and even that is not being paid by the factories. Most receive only 200 gourds (57 cents/hour).
IN THE NEXT FEW WEEKS, a decision will be made to increase the minimum wage in Haiti AND Batay Ouvriye is mobilizing around the country for workers to voice their demands, what they say they actually need for a minimum wage. This takes money to travel, print thousands of flyers, host trainings and protests.
The Impact
If we reach our goal, we can strengthen the fight for minimum wage, which is coming to a head on November 29th, in Haiti! Imagine millions of people who work long, hard hours actually being able to feed their families with their paycheck. Some workers come to Batay Ouvriye meetings traveling with STANDING room only, on the back of a truck for HOURS, knowing they are leaving their families behind with nothing to eat.
- Raising the minimum wage in Haiti will allow workers and their children to afford to eat a decent meal and keep a roof over their heads, like all workers of the world should be able to do.
- Every cent of the $3,200 (other than Indiegogo's cut) will go to Batay Ouvriye to recoup the cost of their organizing efforts, taking place throughout the country.

Rapid Response Network
The Rapid Response Network (RRN) offers prompt solidarity to the struggles of workers against exploitation and repression, and alerts groups and individuals of situations that could benefit from immediate attention.
Our aim is to coordinate our efforts with workers with whom we have organized ties and a certain level of political unity, to publicize and build support for their struggles, under their guidance and in their interests.
Donate to this Indiegogo campaign and join the RRN email list and like the Facebook page to keep up with the campaign for 500 Gourds and other workers' struggles.
RRN Does NOT Support Boycotts. The workers want to keep their jobs, and they don't want companies to pull out of Haiti.
- You can Go to The Gap, Walmart, or other store where you see made in Haiti on the label and ask them to make their suppliers pay a living wage in Haiti.
- You can Call your Production Manager or other Top executive at Gildan, Hanes, Levi's, Walmart, the Gap, JC Penny and other companies that use Haitian factories and ask them to urge their factory suppliers to pay a living wage
