Note
The Mayor's comments today have cast doubts over whether legal proceedings will commence. I will therefore be closing this page. This campaign was never about the Mayor - it was about the importance of maintaining our democratic system. Thank you for showing that the commitment to a democratic society is strong in Toronto. Your donation will be refunded by IndieGoGo over the coming days. Have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
Short Summary
In 2010, 383,501 Torontonians voted to make Rob Ford Mayor of Toronto on the platform of reducing waste and making government more efficient. Since then, a number of special interests and big media organizations have done everything in their power to remove the Mayor, and return Toronto back to its big spending, tax and spend ways.
In fact, a series of nuisance lawsuits have been launched against the Mayor in recent years. All have resulted in victory for the Mayor as the suits were dismissed by the courts. While other Mayors and Councilors have in the past appealed to the City for payment of legal costs, the Mayor instead chooses to pay his costs out-of-pocket out of respect for the taxpayer.
Today Toronto Star reporter Daniel Dale announced he is suing the Mayor for comments made in an interview with Conrad Black.
It's time for Torontonians to stand up and say enough is enough. We now have to stand against these special interest bullies and show them that this harassment has to stop. The Mayor should be left alone to continue fulfilling his mandate of making the City a more efficient, better place to live for its citizens. Whatever you think of the Mayor's policies, we can all agree that bullying and harassment is not Canadian.
The Mayor and the Ford family have given so much back to Toronto over the years through their charitable endeavours and by helping at-risk youth. It's time to take a stand.
