Do you love the earth? Puppies? Hyperbole? Of course you do!
Then please take the time to give us $1 (or $5 or $250; that escalated quickly!) because it really will make a difference.
We are just a couple of farmers trying to save our farm from being repeatedly ravaged by thieves. We have spent the past 6 months building a sustainable living exhibit (performance art for farmers!) on a small farm just outside Dallas, TX. Thrice (that's right, thrice!), we have been pillaged! The last break-in was on Christmas day and the rogues took off with over $3000 in loot!
Although the insurance company paid for us to replace our belongings, they (for some odd reason) wouldn't pay for us to fortify our yurt and its surroundings, no matter how inventive our suggestions were. (C'mon, who wouldn't want to spring for a remotely-activated paintball gun hooked up to the wi-fi so that our friends could hunt trespassers, video-game-style.)
Instead we planned to get attack dogs who would happily rip thieves in twain... alas, we got sidetracked at the animal shelter and ended up with two adorable puppies who at worst would lick your effin' face off, as vicious a lickin' as you can imagine, I assure you.
Still, there's an urgent need for us to fortify the premises, our animals, and ourselves. Since our barbed wire fence hasn't deterred them and the dogs desperately need an enclosed area to romp in, we need to fence in our land. We also need to put up more/better security cameras and build a sturdier shed (we're thinking something along the lines of a fortress).
The lesson we learned from this pillaging is theft is not sustainable, but what we hope to prove is that sustainable is attainable.
Since our finances are stretched between getting the exhibit ready for tours, new puppies, trying to start a family, and increased costs of our insurance, we could really use some help. We are hoping our community (that's you!: friends; family; small farm supporters; burners; Cracked readers; other weird people; citizens of the world) will band together to help make our exhibit an epic win! We want to prove that projects like this (that is, sustainable living) is not only attainable but successful!
Become part of our exhibit by donating. Even $1 will help. Please share our story with your friends and family if you think they'd be interested in what we are trying to do. It is through your generosity and love that we will make sustainable attainable.
