Thank you! All of your contributions have made the Rally Against Mass Surveillance possible. We've booked incredible speakers and performers, made truly breathtaking banners and visuals, and helped pay for hundreds of people to make it to the rally. We did, however, go a *little* over budget. Among other things, 50-foot banners aren't the cheapest, and the great rally program means we might run a bit long and have to pay overtime for stage and sound crew/equipment. We really, really appreciate your support!
Sincerely,
The StopWatching.Us Core Organizers

What Your Contributions Made Possible
Preparations and equipment for a first-class event
Rallies are expensive, and we want to make this one special. That means permits, a stage, backdrops, sound equipment, signs, banners, and medical staff on standby in case someone needs help. With your help, the rally will feature speakers, performers, and visuals worthy of the cause. Professional musicians require professional sound systems, and we're setting up stages at the beginning and end of the march. We need to be prepared for every contingency, and make sure a missed detail doesn’t get in the way of our message.

Lasting impact online and offline
This rally is for all of our supporters, not just those who’ll be in DC. We’ll arrange for top quality livestreaming so viewers worldwide can be a part of history. To make sure the media reports fairly on the rally, we’ll hire top-notch videographers and editors to make compelling videos that can go on the news in record time. We need to print out all 570,000 petition signatures so we have a defining photo for the rally, and we have to hire the photographer to take that photo.
Your contributions allowed us to pull off Lobby Day on Friday the 25th, when 75+ people came to DC to meet with their members of Congress and staff.

A tiny bit of promotion and outreach
All of the groups in the coalition are spending their own resources on promotion and outreach, but there are a few costs the coalition will need to pick up. We want to do some promotion in the DC area, like flyering and a flashy action leading up to October 26th to build some local buzz. We're also going to pay for a tool to manage our phone banking efforts; we want to call everyone who RSVP's to help them find a ride to DC.

Why We’re Rallying
There’s a movement building
Hundreds of thousands of people have spoken out about the NSA’s unconstitutional surveillance programs, including more than 570,000 people who took action at StopWatching.Us. Thousands took to the streets across the country on July 4th and August 4th, and every day more organizations and companies are uniting to put a stop to out-of-control surveillance.
We’re making progress in Washington...
Thanks to thousands of calls from StopWatching.Us supporters in July, 205 members of the House of Representatives came just a few votes away from ending the NSA's domestic call record program. Even the author of the PATRIOT Act voted to end the program, and it looks like if the bill comes up for another vote, we have a very real chance at winning. There are other bills in the works that would roll back other mass surveillance programs.
But the surveillance won’t end unless we demand it!
It won't be easy for us to defeat the status quo and its lobbyists. We need to turn up the pressure on our representatives to stand with the American people to end the lying and the spying. On Friday, October 25th we’ll be meeting directly with members of Congress and their staff to remind them that we plan to hold them accountable for their actions on this issue. On Saturday, October 26th, the anniversary of the PATRIOT Act, we’ll rally in view of the Capitol Building to send a message that can't be missed: Stop Watching Us!
Who We Are
StopWatching.Us is a coalition of more than 100 public advocacy organizations and companies from across the political spectrum. We came together in June 2013 to demand the U.S. Congress investigate the full extent of the NSA's spying programs — read our letter to the U.S. Congress demanding accountability and reform.
